Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Wilson
Hi Marissa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was inspired to become a photographer in October 2020, when I went with my sister for her bridal photography session. I didn’t know at the time I would become a full time photographer 4 years later. What spoke most to me about the decision of becoming one was the adrenaline and excitement that overcame and brought so much emotion out of me. From there, getting to be part of other peoples chapters of life, my faith has led me to holding a piece of equipment in my hands that captures and creates tangible keepsakes for you is incredibly rewarding. I love providing such a necessary service for others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I finally became a full-time photographer in August 2024. It wasn’t a smooth road trying to balance a personal life outside of being a momma and two and working a full time retail job. Because I wasn’t available, I sometimes lost hope, drive, and questioned my faith if photography was truly destined for me. With the grace of God and the commitment I made to myself, I learned that patience, time, and being my biggest cheerleader will lead me to where I need to be. I never gave up on what I was called to do, and I couldn’t be happier that I get to capture keepsakes for a lifetime.
As you know, we’re big fans of Marissa Wilson Photography. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am the sole owner and photographer behind Marissa Wilson Photography. I have been doing this part time for four years, and being full time this past August 2024. I have gotten the privilege to capture and be part of so many families, friends, couples, and young entrepreneurs. I specialize in family photography, but provide services in maternity, graduates, toddler, and the wedding industry. I have the expertise and creative eye to guide you through a refreshingly fun experience while delivering a consistent quality product.
What matters most to you?
Implementing God, love, good energy, and compatibility are the most important values when I offer my photography services. The foundation of getting candid but professional images is a positive connection. From our first meeting to the delivery of your images you can count on professional yet warm and welcoming communication from me. Fostering that genuine connection promotes the atmosphere necessary for you to be comfortable being your true self. When I go into a session, I try to create an atmosphere for others to that I am blessed to be apart of their life story. Leaving the imprint of God to those I come in contact with is my sole purpose on why I am a photographer.
