Rising Stars: Meet Jeanine Bowens of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanine Bowens

Hi Jeanine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I feel like my passion for modeling and styling has been with me for as long as I can remember. It’s almost as though the fashion world chose me rather than the other way around, so it’s always been my God given talent that I’m grateful for. My journey began back in college, where I first stepped into the world of modeling, and each experience deepened my love for it. One of the highlights of my career was walking in Full Figure Fashion Week in 2014, which was both empowering and inspiring.

Since then, I’ve been fortunate to participate in a range of fashion shows and photoshoots that have allowed me to connect with creative minds and expand my horizons. Styling naturally complements my modeling work, and it’s become such a pleasure to not only style myself but to start working with others to bring out their unique style. Each opportunity has brought new insights, and it’s rewarding to see how far I’ve come. Fashion, for me, is an ongoing journey that I’m thrilled to continue.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road hasn’t been smooth, especially with the unique challenges of navigating the modeling industry as a woman of color and a full-figured model. Early on, I faced the pressures and expectations of size standards, as I wasn’t the stereotypical size 2 or 4. Embracing my curves and finding my place as a full-figured model took time, but it ultimately helped me define my style and purpose within the industry.

Beyond that, the fashion world is filled with competition and, at times, rejection, which can be tough. I’ve learned to value the genuine connections I’ve made, and they’ve helped me stay motivated and grounded. It’s been crucial for me to stay creative and consistent, even during the challenging moments. I remind myself of the saying, “Comparison is the thief of joy,” and I focus on my own journey, staying authentic to who I am rather than comparing myself to others. It’s all about growing in a way that honors my unique path in fashion.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
When it comes to modeling, my heart is on the runway. There’s something exhilarating about walking the runway and creating powerful moments during photoshoots. Off-camera, I dive into styling, where I pride myself on a versatile approach—whether it’s bohemian, retro, urban, modern, classic, or chic, I love blending styles to create something unique. I also enjoy styling both women and men, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see clients light up as they gain confidence in their transformed look.

I’m probably best known for my runway walk and my personal style, which I strive to make distinct. I love that styling gives me a chance to highlight others’ individuality, and I’m proud of the genuine connections I’ve built through this work. There’s something special about helping someone see themselves in a new light and watching their confidence grow. That’s what keeps me passionate and motivated in everything I do.
