Today we’d like to introduce you to Shakila Lee
Hi Shakila, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The Ladies Athletic Club of Dallas (LACD) began as a vision to create an empowering space for women to prioritize their health, fitness, and overall well-being in a supportive, community-driven social club. I recognized the lack of female-focused athletic clubs in Dallas that catered specifically to the unique fitness goals and wellness needs of women. I envisioned a place that wasn’t just about working out, but where women of all fitness levels and ages could connect, support, and inspire each other.
Over time, what started as a small group of enthusiastic women has quickly grown into a thriving community, with over 1,000 members supporting one another both inside and outside of fitness activities. We’re so proud of the inclusive and welcoming space we’ve created, and we continue to be inspired by each member’s unique journey. LACD is here to help every woman achieve her fitness goals, find her community, and celebrate her strength.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey for Ladies Athletic Club of Dallas (LACD) has been remarkably smooth, and we’re incredibly fortunate for how quickly we’ve grown. In just a short period, we’ve welcomed over 1,000 members into our social group, which speaks volumes about the need that there was for a supportive, women-centered fitness & social space in DFW. Our growth has been organic, driven by word of mouth and the genuine enthusiasm of our members who believe in our mission as much as we do.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
