Today we’d like to introduce you to Chunni Bunn
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Music is such an important part of my life! Growing up, I was surrounded by a musical atmosphere, especially coming from a family deeply rooted in Baptist Christianity. My parents really lived their faith, which created a wonderful backdrop for my early musical experiences. I fondly remember sitting beside my mom at the piano while she sang, played, and led the church choir every Sunday. One of my proudest moments was my very first solo performance at just four years old, singing “God is So Good.”
As I dove deeper into my love for music, my brothers and I started harmonizing together at home, and it was such so dope! Our little musical jam sessions led us to put on a show for our grandmother and mom, and before we knew it, we were performing at church revivals, belting out two songs by the time I was seven! That early taste of the spotlight really ignited my passion for music and made me eager to pick up different instruments. My oldest brother, Darrell Jr., was in the school drumline, and I would often hang out and watch him practice. He inspired me to give drumming a shot myself, and by the time I was eleven, I had my first gig at my dad’s church, playing alongside my brothers while they sang and played the keys. Now, I still love performing at my church in Dallas, Texas.
Back in 2020, I decided to dive deeper into my creative side and started making music using a cool mobile app called BandLab. I ended up composing over twenty songs during that period! Fast forward to 2023, when I took a big step and got my first laptop, which opened the door for me to explore GarageBand. With some musical knowledge under my belt, I embraced the challenge of self-teaching and getting a handle on music production software.
Looking back at the songs I created during the pandemic, there’s one that really stands out to me. It sparked the idea to release my debut single, “One Night,” under the name Chunni Bunn! At first, I was a bit nervous about jumping into the music scene, especially since so many artists around me had access to fancy studios. But I realized that my journey was going to look different, and I started building my home studio from scratch. In 2023, I wrote, arranged, and produced three singles, and I’m excited to say that by 2024, I’ve aimed to create my very first album, which I’ve titled “1865”!
“1865” represents a significant milestone in my creative journey. Throughout the pandemic and the subsequent production of my album, I have been quite active, touring with various artists and performing for international acts, all while managing my job in the kitchen and striving to find balance in my life.
I want to emphasize that my search for fulfillment has led me to discover what truly brings me joy. While I have ventured into various businesses, including gold design and real estate investment, nothing compares to my passion for music. Therefore, I have made a commitment to prioritize my creative endeavors. With determination and perseverance, I believe that we can achieve more than we ever imagined.
I am excited to share that I have new music coming soon. If you haven’t already, you can find me on all major platforms. I will announce the release dates, and you can follow my journey on my Instagram page @chunni_bunn.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Thanks for asking! Honestly, it’s been quite a journey. I remember back when I was a little girl, hanging out with my brothers and just coming up with ideas on the fly. It was all about using our voices and words to create dope sounds, and it felt so free! Now, diving into music software and production has its perks, but sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming with all the choices out there. I often start with one idea, and by the end, it turns into something completely different, which can be a bit frustrating. But this past weekend, I had a lovely encounter with what felt like an angel in disguise—a guy from Brooklyn who hand-makes instruments from wood. It really reminded me how much I miss that hands-on approach to creating music. I think for some of us, all this tech can sometimes take the “fun” out of the creative process. But I’m excited about my next project; I’m all about going back to my roots and making it fun and exciting again!
As you know, we’re big fans of Net-worth property solutions LLC.. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m really passionate about serving our community—its my purpose. Besides my love for music, I have a background in real estate, and I’ve chosen to invest right here in our community. With so many new faces moving to the DFW metroplex, there are several areas that are often overlooked and considered “under-valued.” My business focuses on acquiring these properties to renovate, lease, or resell, all while placing a strong emphasis on engaging communities in affordable housing opportunities that haven’t yet reaped the benefits of homeownership. I genuinely believe in fostering community growth! What makes my business unique is my commitment to helping people achieve ownership and build equity. There’s so much value in land and ownership for future generations, and my goal is to help local communities recognize that value and support them on their journey to becoming homeowners.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Absolutely! I think it’s so important for everyone to really chase after what they feel their purpose in life is. From my days as a young girl to now as a grown woman, I’ve always promised myself that I would go after my dreams. I’m constantly learning new things and setting fresh goals, no matter what challenges life throws my way. I truly believe that if you don’t recognize your worth, it’s easy to get lost or sidetracked. So, let’s work hard and celebrate life, too! Personally, I love giving back to my community every day, and I enjoy playing my instruments and creating just for the joy of it!
