Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Mink
Hi Justin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My entrepreneurial journey started in the halls of my junior high school, where I ran a profitable business buying lollipops in bulk and then selling them to my classmates for $0.25 a pop.
Since then I’ve had several cofounder and leadership roles at companies that have grown from zero to 100s to 1000s of employees. But my path was forever changed in 2012. In the midst of cofounding a start-up and and working 80+ hours a week, I got hit with a debilitating illness that turned chronic..
During those tough times, I came to believe entrepreneurial leadership requires the sacrifice of your physical and mental health, relationships, and time for any other interests or passions in life. I thought that was just the way things had to be, and due to these demands and my ongoing health struggles, my dreams of entrepreneurial success were over. But everything changed when I discovered the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS).
EOS transformed not only my business but also my life. It showed me that leadership doesn’t have to mean stress, chaos, and endless sacrifice. My first experience implementing EOS brought remarkable results: within just six months, my company nearly doubled its revenue velocity while at the same time capping our workweek at 40 hours. Total game-changer.
That experience proved that it IS possible to achieve both success and balance—without burning out. Now, I’m dedicated to helping leadership teams harness the simple, practical tools of EOS to help break free from frustration and chaos, just like EOS did for me. My mission is to empower entrepreneurs and leaders get more of what they want from their business while also enjoying the ride.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been the definition of rocky! That illness turned into over a decade of struggle with chronic pain and a host of debilitating health issues. My health challenges forced me to reckon with not just my professional life, but with my mind, heart, and spirit too. I wouldn’t wish the chronic pain I endured on anyone, but I’m deeply grateful for the lessons learned and the person I’ve become because of them.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
EOS is a simple, proven business operating system helps the leaders of entrepreneurial organizations clarify, simplify, and achieve its vision.
I teach, facilitate, and coach leadership teams to run their business on the EOS framework in an effort to create alignment on their company’s direction and strategy, build a culture of discipline and accountability and world-class execution, and create healthy, open and honest teams that are elite at solving problems together.
In addition to being an EOS Implementer, as an Outgrow Advisor I help clients systematically unlock 15%-30% revenue growth every year by instilling a proactive, positive, and accountable sales culture throughout the organization. Outgrow is a new part of my practice that I layered in after hearing so many of my clients express frustration with sales and revenue growth. Several of them have ultimately wasted time, energy, and money on sales training that didn’t stick. Outgrow isn’t sales training, it’s sales DOING – once we address this (who to contact, how to contact them, and what to say) and track activity, growth becomes predictable—and inevitable.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I learn as much from my clients as they learn from me – especially the most challenging ones. It’s the difficult clients that have been the biggest catalyst to leveling up my skills as a teacher, facilitator and coach. The toughest sessions – teams with a toxic dynamic, elephants in the room, and leaders avoiding hard honesty – have pushed me to ask “How can I show up better for this team?” and grow as a result. These challenges have fueled my growth and clarified my purpose: to create a safe space where teams can face their deepest issues head-on and emerge stronger, healthier, and higher-performing.
