Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmy Ray Whiteside II, MSC.D.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
At an early age I found myself always striving to help others to become successful, in their life, spirituality and business ventures. Mainly because I grew up very poor in my hometown Spartanburg, SC, and I didn’t want others to experience what I’ve had to endure. I tend to focus more on helping others which helps me to set milestone goals for myself. Helping others helps me. I live by the example from JESUS’ own words in John 15:13 which JESUS tells us, “Greater LOVE has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s FRIENDS.” I pray that we all strive to be selfless in our relationships and friendships, always putting the needs of others before our own and showing Your LOVE in all that You do. This is my life’s creed.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
By far has my life’s journey been smooth. As stated before I grew up very poor. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth. My spoon, that I found in the garbage, was a broken plastic spork. I grew up in a violent homestead when my dad was around. And when he would abandon us my strong mom Janice Mathis-Whiteside had to raise me and my sister Dawn Whiteside-Queen alone. My sister was only three years older than me, but she took on the role as my mother and cooked most of my meals for me when mom was working one of her three jobs. Dawn made sure I was fed, bathed and dressed properly daily. When my dad was around he was physically abusive towards my mom, he drank alcohol in excess. One time he kicked my mom so hard with his pointed cowboy boots he broke her arm and nearly knocked her right eyeball out of her eye socket. And on my 12th birthday he stabbed my mom numerous times in her stomach which nearly took her life. It was shortly after that I first thought about suicide. My experiences in my youth has affected me mentally throughout my life and has made certain experiences in my life very interesting with my being Dyslexic and having ADHD as well.
Fast forwarding into my adulthood, I’ve failed more at life than I have succeeded. Both in personal and business ventures and/or relationships. My wife and I have launched 15 businesses and a nonprofit prison ministry. We’ve lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in failed business ventures. To having millions flow though our hands to help others to succeed themselves. But through it all we shall never give up on ourselves as long as we can help the next person achieve their life’s mission.
