Life & Work with Vempre Terrell, Jr.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vempre Terrell, Jr.

Hi Vempre, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Being able to see the need for optimism in life has always been a part of my personality. Time and time again people do not pursue their goals because of the fears they have of what others will think if they fail. As well, they tend to give up when they are so close to the finish line to save face in case things do not work out how they want them to work out. This is something that I do not like to see. In an effort to inspire myself and encourage others, I began expressing myself through writing. From writing small works to expansive pieces, writing became my passion. Periods of time began to take place when I would notice how touched other individuals appeared to be when they would hear me read poems, speeches, or excerpts of books. As a result, I took on the role of a motivational speaker in addition to my works as an author.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Rising to greater heights as an author and motivational speaker has not been a smooth road to follow. Times have existed when I felt like I was at a fork in the road when deciding between continuing toward following success and giving up right where I was. One of the biggest challenges for me to overcome was being pushed aside by others who expressed that they would provide me with support once I became successful in pursuit of my goals. It seemed as if they were telling me that they would help me when I no longer needed their help. Despite this, I still kept going. I remember the days when my first book, “The Eyes of Faith,” was nothing more than a manuscript that I was striving to make available to any reader who wanted to have it. As I continued to put forth the effort, “The Eyes of Faith” became a published work, and I have now released my most recent book, “My Walk Through the Valley.” Added to this, I remember points in my life when I only delivered motivational speeches to small groups of 5 people or less. Now, I have had times to speak to groups of up to 5,000 people. Knowing that I kept going at times when I could have just given up encourages me to continue to be an encouragement to others.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Words…while they appear to have no power, they are some of the most powerful things in life. A person could walk into a room where someone speaks a few words to him or her, and this could change the entire atmosphere for that individual. On top of this, a small number of words spoken to someone or about someone could affect that person for years to come. Knowing this, I wanted to use the power of words for good things. As a result, I began to express myself through writing. Whether writing books, speeches, songs, or poems, I do my best to share my passion for writing to positively touch the lives of others. When my words positively impact the lives of readers or listeners, I know that I have done my part. It makes me proud to know that something that I may write on a random day could have a positive effect on another person’s life, and I believe that positively touching the lives of my readers and listeners significantly sets me apart from others.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My passion for using words to touch the lives of others is most important to my artistic success. Whether bringing forth my words in the form of a book or delivering them through a speech, a key quality of my artistic ability is my gift of making my words positively impact the lives of my readers and listeners. Low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression are strong points in society that are often overlooked. Through my works, I do my best to change this. As an author, I strive to ensure that my readers close my books with an optimistic standpoint after reading even a few words. As a motivational speaker, I do my best to uplift my listeners so that they will gain a hopeful view of the circumstances that they may be experiencing in life.
