Conversations with Nicole Howse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Howse.

Nicole Howse

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
For as long as I can remember knew I wanted to be a hairstylist. I’ve currently been doing hair for 20 years now. I started at 19 in an aveda salon here in Arlington. When they retired I forced to go out on my own. Not really thinking I could make it alone. Well after 9 years in a room alone I decided that I wanted something more. I craved a space that reflected me as a person and could be filled with women supporting other women. Learning from each other all the while beautifying our clients. So with the support of my boyfriend in 2023 I decided to use the profit from the sale of my home to invest in myself and open my own salon. And here we are!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh nothings worth having is easy! It’s been hard, I’m learning as I go. Lots of times I feel inadequate as a stylist and salon owner. But at the same time determined to prove myself wrong. I’m trying to surround myself with kind supportive women who can all work together and grow and learn from each other.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
