

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Portuondo
Hi Kimberly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Just out of college, I was doing marketing for an insurance agency and although I loved what I was doing, I wasn’t able to be creative enough with the work since it was a 9-5 job focusing on one specific industry. Through the insurance agency, I spoke to local business owners about the importance of marketing and insuring their businesses. At the end of each presentation, I would have people approaching me asking me if I could do some marketing for them. That is what sparked the idea that I could potentially go into business for myself, but I still didn’t take any definitive steps to make anything happen.
It wasn’t until I was getting adjusted at Markson Chiropractic and my chiropractor told me he would love my support for his practice. Chiropractic, and holistic healthcare in general, has always been something I’ve felt passionate about. A few months after that in August 2014, I had quit the insurance job and started KP Kreative (now called Page One digital) with just Markson Chiropractic as my client. My chiropractor, Dr. Rick Markson, also manages a company where he does consulting work to help other chiropractors learn how to run successful practices in their area. That business hosts three seminars per year, and I started speaking at those events to teach chiropractors across the United States how to properly market their practices. Naturally, this lead to more clients and my business has been growing ever since.
While our recurring marketing services are geared toward medical professionals, we can (and do) support all types of businesses with consulting and web design services.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Since starting Page One Digital 10 years ago, We’ve been able to double our business revenue each year. Although that might seem like a smooth road to most, there were many struggles along the way. Mainly in trying to scale the services that we provide. Page One Digital offers web design, search engine optimization, and digital marketing services that range from social media management to business advertising. We believe in a customized approach for each of our clients because each business is unique. Providing custom images, ads, websites, etc. to each client can be extremely time-consuming. So, very early on, I realized that if I wanted my business to keep growing I needed some extra hands on deck to help make that happen. Finding, hiring, and training the right talent for the team has been a challenge to say the least.
We’ve gone through some growing pains to land with the right team members in the right roles. Bringing on a firm to help us with our HR and Culture needs was a huge help.

We have based our marketing model around the concept of the customers’ not always being quite right, which is why they hire us for our expertise. While the customer is usually right about what they may want or need for their business, they might not always know the best ways to go about achieving that goal. We are most known for creating websites that our clients are able to edit on their own after a little bit of training, of course. From my experience, custom websites are costly and require you to wait on a developer to make the smallest of changes. That doesn’t usually work well for most business owners who are juggling a lot. So, I decided to focus on making custom websites that my clients can modify as they see fit.
I believe what sets us apart from other businesses like ours is the range of services we provide, all at an affordable rate. Most of the time you have to go to one place for your website, to another for search engine optimization, to another for social media management, and to another for advertising. We do all of that in-house and custom to our clients so they get the best results possible
I am most proud of taking every client we have worked with to a level they didn’t know was possible. Some clients have never had a website or a social media profile. For some of our more advanced clients, we are able to innovate in ways they hadn’t thought of. So either way, the realm of what’s possible is endless, and when those clients start to see results it is an amazing feeling.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I believe that my tenacity has been crucial to my success. I am very passionate about the clients that our business supports. Anytime a client needs something, I know that either myself or my team will do everything they can to find a viable and affordable solution for them. We make it a point to provide our clients with as much information as they might need to make an informed decision. If we cannot get a specific request done, we’ll refer the client to a vetted resource. This has helped to create great relationships with our clients and also with other businesses in our area.
