Check Out Kleo Hannah’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kleo Hannah

Hi Kleo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I loved dancing growing up, but it wasn’t until I graduated high school that I got into training dance for real. For two spring seasons, I trained in Brownies (later rebranded U.N.I.T.Y) under Jessie Brown. I learned hip hop foundations and history, and I was introduced to the freestyle scene as well. I loved how connected it made feel to like-minded individuals. To this day, performing and getting to connect with others are still my 2 favorite parts of it all.

After those 2 years, I wanted to stretch myself in a different genre of dance, and I came across Amya Chanel’s heels classes. I took her class on Tuesdays for almost 2 years before I actually started taking choreography home and practicing outside of class. That’s where I fell in love with dance all over again.

For the simple pleasure of enjoying moving with music, I’d spend hours in front of a mirror just seeing how many different ways I could do it. Because of that, I started getting good at it, and Amya suggested I start teaching. So I spent the better part of 2024 teaching heels classes.

Nowadays, I’m getting into social media to share my passion. I’m also getting into different genres to further expand my movement vocabulary. In 2025, I will continue teaching heels classes and I’m adding hip hop classes into my rotation. I’ll be doing more performing and traveling as well. I’m excited.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I just like to dance and make friends. Nothing has stopped me from doing those things, so I’d say the road has been pretty smooth!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I dance! I love to teach and cypher as a means of connecting with people, and I love to perform because I really love a good show!

My favorite things to do are heels, hip hop, and especially open style freestyle. I don’t think my only strength or specialty is heels, but it seems to be what people know me for more. It hasn’t stopped me from doing what I like doing, so I don’t mind it.

I am the most proud of the fact that I am learning.

One thing that sets me apart from my others is the fact that no matter what, I am student first. I know there’s something I can learn from everyone I meet, and I lean into that.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I loved spending time in the garage with my dad while he fixed cars.
