Today we’d like to introduce you to Harvey Garza
Hi Harvey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
While I don’t live in the dfw area, I am in there area very very often. I started out as a drummer at 6yrs old and picking up other instruments along the way. Being an bands led me to start wanting to lear audio engineering. I did go to college for commercial music but had one of my best friends show me the world of audio engineering and recording. I then going another band years later ‘Indego’. We recored our first album and our second album in my home studio. While being in Indego, I thought it would be a great idea to buy a camera for Vlogs. This camera did more than just Vlogs for me. It opened a whole new world to me. Photography and videography! I would go out around town and just shot anything I thought was appealing to me. From buildings, alleyways, stair cases, random people on the streets. Street photography. After a year or so getting used to using my camera I wanted to give back to the music coming in my area. So I bought to more cameras, start a HG Productions YouTube channel that showcases local bands in my area and surrounding. Cameras have become a part of who I am now and I love it. Ive had the pleasure of having friends and strangers alike reach out to me and ask if I could shoot portraits for them or bands concert performances and other event moments.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Some struggles were finances. Where I couldn’t get any clients and had to depend on other sources of income.
