Check Out Vanity Scott’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanity Scott

Hi Vanity, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a children’s book author and owner of Emherge Press, a boutique publishing company that specializes in children’s books that focus on social emotional learning, self-discovery, and community. I have been a writer since I was a little girl, and I first self-published in 2020 with my debut children’s book, A Girl and Her Grandpa.

When I started my journey as a published author, I was turning my grief into purpose. I wrote my first book, A Girl and Her Grandpa, in dedication of my late grandfather. Since then, I have dedicated my journey to learning as much as I can about being an author and business owner. I have immersed myself in the social emotional learning world for children, and each of my children’s books have elements of it in each. I plan to continue this journey to help children identify, regulate, and celebrate their emotions through self-discovery and community.

I am so proud of my 6 published children’s books- Jumping Beanie & The Mustard Seed, A Girl and Her Grandma, A Boy and His Grandma, A Girl and Her Grandpa, A Boy and His Grandpa, and A Crown Like Mine, all of which are available on Amazon!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been blessed, but not without challenges. I have combatted imposter syndrome, rejection, anxiety, and more. I have had to overcome comparison in every season and my faith has been tested. I don’t think big dreams come without challenges on the way. I truly believe that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and I have learned something new from each challenge that has helped me in my journey.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a 6x children’s book author that creates stories that focus on social emotional learning, self-discovery, and community. I own Emherge Press, my publishing company that I publish my books through as well as provide 1:1 consultations for aspiring children’s book authors.

As I fully immerse myself in the social emotional learning space, I am most proud that I create children’s books not only for kids, but the kid inside of all us. These stories have spoken deeply to multiple age groups and that is very special to me.

I also have a passion for helping aspiring children’s book authors get their book ideas out of their minds and to the people that need them. Through my 1:1 consultations, I help them build a plan that will get their projects across the finish line.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was a kid who loved to read and write. I was shy and quiet, but my imagination and determination soared. Something that I admire about my younger self is that I constantly pushed myself out of my comfort zone, even if I was scared to do it. While I loved reading and writing stories, I also pushed myself to act, sing, and dance as a young girl. This desire to try new things, even while being nervous to do so, is something that has deeply aided me in my life journey,
