Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Reyes
Hi Daniel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve wanted to own and run my own business for a long while. It was a dream that required countless nights of waking up at 2 in the morning and sitting in my own garage, just brainstorming. The hours would pass quickly, with me none the wiser, until I saw the sun come up, the realization finally hitting me then. It all culminated in 2019 when I was trying to find some form, any form of inspiration. I decided to go to a business owner focused ceremony, an event for aspiring business owners such as myself to learn and take note from already business owners who are already established, sharing their story. One of those speakers, it turns out, was Mark Cuban, who needs little introduction. His reputation drew me to the event, and when he was on stage, his words are what finally clicked for me. Suddenly, my vision was clear, and I was given the small little spark I needed to finally get the engine running, and just 3 months later, Greenleaf Jewelers was born. Though I had the spark, motivation, and passion ready to run the business, it still was not an easy task. Running a business has it’s ups and downs, and through several victories and occasional mistake, each event is something to learn from. No one gets it always right. Through these events and other experiences, Greenleaf Jewelers had slowly begun to establish itself to where it is today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course it hasn’t. No business can be just a smooth road. Whether it was the economy’s state at the time discouraging people from spending money on luxuries, which would include jewelry, certain events and mistakes which held back the business for a bit, or just bad days where business is slow, running a business has been and will always be stressful. However, what defines a business’ strength and perseverance is the ability to adapt and overcome every obstacle that stands in your way, one way or another. Through each setback, we learn from our mistakes and adapt to ensure that we will continue to stand strong.

Greenleaf Jewelers is a jewelry store located in the Town East Mall. As a jewelry store in the mall, we compete with several more established names, some of which include Paramount Jewelers, Kays, and Fast Fix. What separates us from the competition are two big things. The first is the advantage of being a smaller scale business. This allows us to be more personable, more amicable with our customers. Having a more personal relationship with our customers allows more levels of communication, which can lead to more quality services. Our second advantage is that we have a factory in house, which allows us to work quickly with our signature custom jobs. We can create just about any manner of jewelry, and we usually showcase our creations proudly on our Facebook and Instagram, where we allow our customers to see what we can really do!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
As much as I work and do my role in my team, working on jewelry and assisting my team whenever and wherever I can, I try to do a lot of my work alone, as I prefer to trust in myself.
