Meet Nickolas “Slimm” Webb of DALLAS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nickolas “Slimm” Webb

Hi Slimm, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Nickolas Webb is the CEO and operator of three businesses based in Dallas, Texas: Fresh Laced Shoe Cleaning and Fresh Laced Education . He started his business in 2021 during a period of homelessness and has since built a thriving enterprise focused on sneaker cleaning, restoration, and education.

Nickolas uses his graphic design skills to create promotional materials and leverages social media to attract customers. Through Fresh Laced Shoe Academy, he partners with organizations like YMCA, city parks and recreation departments, and Boys and Girls Clubs of America to teach sneaker cleaning and restoration techniques. His mission includes empowering the next generation, helping families save money, and promoting sustainability.

He’s also created a lesson plan workbook for his academy, designed to teach students everything from basic cleaning techniques to advanced restoration skills, helping them turn their knowledge into a source of income.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nickolas Webb faced significant challenges on his journey to building Fresh Laced Shoe Cleaning Company. One of the most notable struggles was starting the business in 2021 while experiencing homelessness. Despite this adversity, he demonstrated resilience and determination by transforming his circumstances into an opportunity to create something meaningf

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m Nickolas Webb, a shoe restaurateur specializing in shoe cleaning, restoration, and unmatched customer service. People are proud of me because they’ve seen my journey—from being shot and facing the risk of losing my life, enduring homelessness, and even losing my shop—to building Fresh Laced. I’ve cleaned shoes in parks and downtown Dallas, meeting my customers where they are, which they love because I make convenience a priority.

What sets me apart is that I didn’t come from wealth or privilege. Unlike those with large amounts of money, my success comes purely from determination, grit, and an unwavering belief in my vision. Living in a city with no family, my greatest inspiration is my three children: my 5-year-old son, 17-year-old daughter, and 9-year-old son. My story reflects resilience, strength, and the power to rise above any challenge, and I’m proud that my journey inspires others.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The COVID-19 crisis taught me some valuable lessons, both personally and professionally. It showed me how unpredictable life can be and how important it is to adapt. In the shoe restoration business, the pandemic affected customer habits and spending priorities, but it also made people more financially aware. Many realized that money doesn’t last forever, and they needed to be more frugal.

To help during that time, I offered my deal of six shoe cleans starting at $120, which allowed people to save money while still maintaining their footwear. This approach not only kept my business afloat but also reinforced the value of offering affordable, high-quality services during tough times. It was a reminder that even in a crisis, we can find ways to support each other and adapt to new realities.
