Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Robert Mawire.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Mawire. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We all start somewhere and I can sum up my story by saying… I’m a dreamer. I’m a dreamer who came to America and accomplished the American dream. As a child, I grew up in the country called Rhodesia now known as Zimbabwe. I was a small town boy with a dream to transform my world. My window to the outside world was sitting by the candlelight listening to shortwave radio. Shortwave radio took me to places unseen and unknown. In the last 4o years, I’ve taken giant footsteps around the world… from a little village in Africa, to the island of Tasmania, the land down under Australia to my beloved home now – the Lone Star State of Texas. As the Chairman of WRNO Radio… everyday is a new adventure.
WRNO Radio is a global short wave radio station that reaches out to 1.6 billion short wave radio receivers worldwide.. Our studio is in a high rise office in downtown Fort Worth. Our physical antenna and transmitter is in the west bank of New Orleans.
WRNO Radio was the first short wave radio license to be issued during the Cold War in 1980 by our federal government. The majority of short wave radio stations are owned by governments around the world such as the BBC and Voice of America. Short wave radio broadcasting from America and Europe contributed to the collapse of communism because it brought the truth and the people pulled down the walls. Today America and the Western World is facing global terrorism based upon religious ideologies. Again, we are faced with a need to bring the truth to the world to win hearts and minds of people, transforming lives, making the world a better place. I believe that world evangelism is the answer to terrorism and many of the social ills we are facing. We are in the business of transforming the world through the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We can be heard on the internet and also on our app for our global listeners that do not have short wave radio. We are a great global platform for companies that seek to drive their audiences to their social media platforms and build global brand.
Our other activities include the Gerizim Technologies Group which seeks to bring to life innovative and new technologies. We bring together American investments with Israeli start up companies. Our vision is doing business with a mission. One of the technologies that Gerizim is involved with is renewable energy, plastic to diesel. Environmental issues are of a global concern. We take water bottles and other plastics that have become a major global problem and turn the trash into either heating oil, diesel or electricity. We are currently looking for investors to establish a plant in the depressed areas in Fort Worth, Denton and Waco to create jobs while solving the land fill problem. Our pilot plant is in Tyler Texas where we are currently turning plastic into diesel. Plastic has become a major global environmental problem that requires immediate action. We are on the cutting edge in that space by taking the trash and making something indispensable in our daily living. The point again is to transform lives and make our world the best place to live… bring heaven to earth.
In addition to WRNO Radio, Gerizim Technologies Group, I am a global motivational speaker, writer, advisor to world leaders. I have been awarded a life time achievement award by the World Jewish Congress for my work in transforming the city of Ariel Israel into a smart city over the last 20 years. I have done a lot of humanitarian work in Africa and India. I started out very humbly in my life but I’ve lived long enough to see my dreams become reality and I’m inspired to help others achieve their dreams, too.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road but life rarely is. I always think about going to school as a young college student in the coldest island in the world – Tasmania. I came all the way from southern Africa with its moderate climate to Tasmania, which is near the South Pole. I spent 3 years of my college life in Tasmania and no one realized least of all me that you can have winter all year round! Life lessons I learned… an Australian lady told me to accept help from others… it’s not just about the joy of giving but allowing others to give into your life… I learned the lesson of listening more in order to be more engaging. If you are going to do something big, you have to go where dreams are made… that is Texas.
Please tell us about WRNO RADIO STATION and Gerizim Technologies.
My proudest accomplishment with WRNO Radio was rebuilding something that had been destroyed, giving it new life and relaunching it. When I bought WRNO Radio, the transmitter had blown up, there was no antenna. I had a dream and a vision that we could turn this around and touch the world. We are heard in Europe, Russia, China and Canada. When we started, it seemed nothing was going to work out… but with perseverance and faith in God, we did the impossible.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I could start over, I’d start over in Texas because of the can-do spirit.
