Today we’d like to introduce you to Colten Whitmarsh
Hi Colten, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my journey founding CCMarkets4Days Events with a lifelong passion for creating memorable experiences. From an early age, I immersed myself in events, starting with roles in high school where I worked for event coordinators, learning the fundamentals of catering and customer service. I also volunteered with a local production company, gaining hands-on experience in creating live, immersive performances complete with special effects and live actors. These formative years shaped my understanding of event logistics, teamwork, and creating engaging experiences for audiences.
My love for events and audio engineering began in church. I extended this passion to volunteering at my church, running live sound for events and concerts and helping with media production. Even as a kid at summer camps, I eagerly jumped in to help with audio setups because I loved the craft so much. During high school, I was also heavily involved in theater productions, spring events, graduations, marching band, conferences, and many other groups and organizations at Azle High School.
After graduating in 2018, I pursued my dream of audio engineering by earning a degree from the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Arizona. I returned to Texas and worked for a movie production company where I combined my technical and creative skills. I served as an audio engineer on the tech team while also taking on creative roles as an art director, props master, and set dresser for film projects. These experiences taught me how to manage teams, oversee projects, and bring big visions to life.
My career then transitioned into catering and event planning, where I worked on weddings, birthday parties, bridal showers, corporate events, and markets. My time working with venues sharpened my skills in organizing diverse events and catering to clients’ unique needs. I also explored the real estate world as a project manager for home remodels and in property management, broadening my skill set and deepening my understanding of project coordination and customer satisfaction.
With years of experience in event coordination and a passion for supporting small businesses and creative artisans, CCMarkets4Days Events became the perfect outlet to bring my vision to life. My markets and events are designed to be safe, family-oriented, and inclusive environments where customers, clients, and vendors can thrive. Whether it’s hosting large markets with over 250 vendors or smaller curated events, our mission is to create opportunities for local talent while ensuring a fun and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
Today, I pour my positivity, professionalism, and enthusiasm into every market, striving to create events that leave lasting memories for clients, for vendors and shoppers alike. At CCMarkets4Days Events, we’re not just about markets and events; we’re about creating FUN and meaningful experiences for our community. CCMarkets4Day Events, the name says it all: CC = “Where Community Meets Creativity”; 4 = “For Everyone”, emphasizing inclusivity, showcasing that our markets are for EVERYONE including Vendors, Families, Communities, and “the best for last” YOU!!!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t always been smooth, but every challenge has helped shape where I am today. Early on, balancing school, work, and volunteering in various event-related roles was a challenge. It taught me how to manage my time, adapt to changing situations, and stay focused on my goals.
Transitioning through different industries—whether it was audio engineering, the film industry, real estate, or event planning—came with its own set of challenges. Each transition required me to step outside of my comfort zone, learn new skills, and adapt quickly to different environments. However, these experiences gave me a unique perspective and a diverse skill set that I now apply to organizing all types of events, from markets to weddings, corporate functions, birthday parties, and more.
One of the most significant challenges came in October 2023. That moment was a turning point—it pushed me to fully commit to CCMarkets4Days Events and trust in the vision my business partner and I were building. While it was daunting, it also fueled my determination to pour everything I had into creating events that bring people together, support local talent, and leave lasting impressions.
Hosting events, no matter the type, always has its hurdles: managing vendors, coordinating logistics, navigating weather and attendance unpredictability, and ensuring every guest has a great experience. However, those challenges are also what make this work so rewarding. Overcoming them has taught me resilience, creativity, and the importance of teamwork.
What I have learned through these experiences is invaluable. Every challenge reinforced the importance of perseverance and adaptability. I’ve discovered that being open to learning and evolving is crucial in any industry. I’ve learned to trust my instincts, embrace uncertainty, and see every setback as a stepping stone toward growth. Most importantly, I’ve realized that success isn’t just about achieving goals—it’s about the relationships built along the way, the lives impacted through events, and the joy created in shared experiences. These lessons continue to inspire me to push forward, knowing that every challenge is just another opportunity to learn and thrive.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is traveling. I loved every trip from the deserts to the oceans to the mountains–anywhere! I’ve been fortunate to visit so many incredible places, and I’m truly grateful to my parents for instilling in me a deep love for travel.
One memory that stands out is a trip to Yellowstone National Park. We were up in the mountains, surrounded by snow, when my mom wanted to take a picture of me. She had me stand in the snow and kept telling me to smile, but what we didn’t realize at first was that a wolf was standing nearby. My grandad was the one who pointed it out and started screaming for me to run! Until then, my mom kept insisting I stay put and smile for the photo, completely unaware of the wild visitor just a short distance away. Looking back, it’s a funny and slightly nerve-wracking memory, but it perfectly captures the adventure and unexpected moments that made our travels so special.
One of my favorite parts of traveling has always been connecting with the staff and tour guides we encountered along the way. I had a natural curiosity for understanding how everything operated—from meal preparation and service, to the organization and execution of tours. I often found myself engaging with the staff learning the behind-the-scenes details that made each experience unique. It wasn’t just about being a guest; I loved immersing myself in the inner workings of every place we visited.
Traveling and seeing the world has become my passion and is my favorite pastime to enjoy whenever I’m not working. No matter the destination, I look forward to meeting new friends and the excitement of discoveries unknown on each new adventure!
