Inspiring Conversations with Kaysie Armstrong of Flour Babe Bakery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaysie Armstrong

Hi Kaysie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My professional baking journey started in January 2019 while attending Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Austin Texas. While focusing on Baking and Pastry Arts, I was able to learn traditional baking techniques from renowned Michelin starred chefs, as well as Business and Restaurant Operations. Culinary school was just the beginning of my sweet journey in learning how to be a chef and business owner.

While in culinary school, Flour Babe Bakery started as a way for me to practice my craft and apply what I had been learning to real world orders. After six years of trial and error, that small “after school business” has transitioned into a successful bakery specializing in wedding cakes!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a small business owner in any field is challenging! No one is going to know who you are or what you offer unless you put yourself out there. I’ve had to believe in my business, nurture it, and put in the hard work to get it to where it is today.

In the beginning, I was attending every market and pop up that I could to put Flour Babe Bakery on the map. My average days leading up to an event would be spent by myself prepping, baking, and packaging for up to 16 hours. With little sleep and a whole lot of hope, I would show up to events to share my passion with my community.

Although my body and mind were exhausted during these early days, I wouldn’t change a thing!

We’ve been impressed with Flour Babe Bakery, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Flour Babe Bakery is located in Aubrey, Texas and provides DFW with delectable works of art. From weddings to birthdays, we are known for bringing sweetness to all of life’s special days. We pride ourselves on our dedication to providing our customers with made from scratch baked goods using classic techniques and high quality ingredients. Although we have delicious desserts, we are most known for our customer service. It is important to us that our customers are treated with the utmost respect and are heard when ordering for their important events. Without our community and customers, we wouldn’t be where we are today!

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to me is being able to be passionate about what I do and share that passion with those around me.
