Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Jenkins
Hi Leslie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello there! I’m Leslie Jenkins, a travel agent who specializes in destinations such as all things Disney, Universal Studios, all inclusive resorts and so much more! Growing up, I was raised in a low income household. The word “vacation” wasn’t in our vocabulary. I told myself as a young child that when I was on my own and able, I’d make my own dreams come true through traveling. In my twenties after graduating from college and starting my banking career, I’m found myself able to venture out and travel. After several visits and experiences to different locations such as Disney World , Universal Studios and Caribbean cruises, I found myself being everyone’s “go to gal” for travel advice. After awhile, it dawned on me,” Hey! I could be getting paid to give out my advice!” My friend reached out and recommended me to a local travel agency and I signed on with them as an independent agent in 2020. I’ve been with Fantastical Vacations ever since. At the end of the day, I’m just a real person helping real people adventure.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We all have to start somewhere right? Honestly, my first year was incredible.
Starting during the pandemic and the rise of COVID, I thought it would be a challenge but at the time, families had stimulus checks trickling in and once they were able to travel, they couldn’t wait to get out of their homes. I helped a lot of people that year plan current and future vacations. I think people needed hope. They needed something to grasp onto after the dust settled from the pandemic. I am always realistic with my clients and respectful of their budget as it is not my time or money. I am always willing to help plan out future travel dates to give them time to pay off their trip or notify them of promotions as soon as I’m aware to see if I can save them money in any way.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a real person helping real people adventure, I’m not in this career to get rich financially but to help others experience the true riches in life such as spending time with family and making the memories. I want to help create a story that families will live to tell through generations to come. Travel is so much more than the destination. The journey tells the story. I love helping others write their story and plan the magic. At the end of the day, all we have is our name. I am proud of my reputation. 85% of my booked vacations have been through “word of mouth” advertisement. People talk and they are saying great things about my services. I’m honored and humbled as this is the best compliment.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, being successful is doing what you love. I’m all about “people helping people”. I enjoy the opportunity to serve others and I appreciate their gratitude. When someone thanks you for your time and can’t stop talking about how great their trip was because of my passion to see them succeed, that’s a true success.
