Today we’d like to introduce you to Nolan Bishop
Hi Nolan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In college I started making bongs for my friends by recycling liquor bottles, shortly I got a heart disease and had to drop out of engineering school. During the years of recovery I also became hopelessly addicted to drugs particularly opiates. All seemed lost until one day I took a glassblowing class and it revitalized me. Not just the hard stuff I even quit cigarettes to be able to blow glass with less interruption. Unfortunately the authoritarian regime at the local glass college pushed me to make a open minded place for people to discover glass and escape the grips of their reality.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Glass is a rich man’s game and I am poor. Wealth is a different story all together(I have so many rare plants/animals) but the glass business is financially/emotionally draining with slim margins

I specialize in glass sculpture, it’s an early limitless medium with plenty of room for personal inspiration and interpretation. Glass demands minfulness and inspires awareness of others through team building. We work with more recycled glass than the other studios
