Hi Alicha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello! I’m Alicha, a certified esthetician and proud owner of an online Glow Shop.
My passion for esthetics ignited when I was just a teenager. By the age of 17, I could recite every step of a facial, and not from TikTok or Google lol, but from the pages of Cosmopolitan magazine! I remember giving facials to my little sister and friends on our living room floor, followed by cozy cups of tea. Those moments turned into our special “zen time,” where we would unwind and recharge. It wasn’t just about the beauty aspect; it was the tranquility that drew me in and made me realize that this was my passion & calling.
My fascination with facials led me to pursue a path that would ultimately transform my life. At that time, I was stuck in a job I hated —great pay, but it drained my spirit. I decided to go back for my GED, but despite my efforts, I struggled with math. Life got chaotic, and I found myself in a dark place, feeling lost and lacking confidence. My body dysmorphic disorder worsened, and some days, I couldn’t even get out of bed. I began to question everything about my life and my purpose.
Then one fateful night, a stranger approached me at a convenience store around 2 AM. She spoke words of encouragement, telling me that God loved me and urging me to keep pushing forward. It felt as though she could see right through my struggles. After she prayed for me, I left feeling as if a heavy burden had been lifted. I often reflect on that moment, considering her my guardian angel; without her, who knows where I’d be today? That experience ignited my self-love journey and deepened my relationship with God. When I got home, I looked in the mirror and declared it was time for a change. I rushed to our local CVS and stocked up on skincare products, particularly glycolic acid. Lol I remember this vividly The initial results were discouraging, but my excitement to see improvement kept me going. I then began exploring the benefits of essential oils for stress, and anxiety which eventually led me to discover their efficacy for skincare. And this is when my Arrglow Ageless Face Oil was created. Soon after, It was not long until I started to see a transformation in my skin and my confidence began to flourish again.
Fast forward six months—I moved back in with my parents and attempted my GED once more. Though I wasn’t where I wanted to be professionally, my faith in God had grown so strong, even on the tough days. I knew He would pave a way for me, and sure enough, at 30, I found myself back in a classroom, working towards my high school diploma. It wasn’t the path I envisioned for myself at that age, but it was essential. By 32, I graduated and enrolled in esthetics school. Now, I proudly run a thriving esthetics business and an online Glow Shop, with my beloved oil soon to grace its first retail shelf and now available on Amazon.
Scripture, skincare, and self-care is what saved my life, and I’m thrilled to share this journey with other women. Our brand motto is, “Beautiful skin and a beautiful soul glow together.” It’s essential to nourish our souls to truly thrive in this life and having battled BDD myself, I understand the immense power of words. They hold incredible influence, but God’s word is the most powerful of all.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was far from an easy journey! I could fill a book with all the trials and errors faced! But I truly believe that the struggles are what shape the journey; they’re an integral part of building a business. At some point, you have to embrace the challenges and place your trust in God, knowing that He’s orchestrating everything for His purpose and on His timeline.
I launched my esthetics business on peoples couches in a new city, armed with minimal savings. At the time all I had was a lash lift kit and chemical peel kit & I also began creating my face oil in my kitchen around the same time. Who would have imagined that during the darkest period of my life, I would have created a product that would not only address my own skin concerns but also help others one day. My battle with body dysmorphic disorder is what inspired me to incorporate daily soul glow reminders and uplifting scriptures into all of our products.
Also Imposter syndrome is very real, and it’s something I’m sure every entrepreneur faces daily. Worrying about what people will say or think or if they’ll support.. but not everyone will be your cheerleader—and they’re not obligated to be! What matters most is that you keep your intentions and motives pure; if you do that, God will take care of the rest!

Every first Monday of the month, we’ll offer turmeric shots, beauty wellness shots, and motivational cards, along with complimentary skincare goodie bags. It’s a fantastic opportunity to kick off the new month and connect with like-minded individuals!
Any big plans?
Right now, I feel like I’m just scratching the surface of my business, and I’m excited to see what else God has in store. My passion lies in helping people look and feel their best, and I want to continue sharing the goodness of God through this journey.
I have a dream of starting my own organization dedicated to supporting teens and women who are struggling with body dysmorphic disorder. It’s a cause close to my heart, and I believe it could make a significant impact.
Additionally, I would love to develop a one-on-one GED program for individuals who struggle with traditional learning methods. I attempted to launch this a couple of years ago, but the timing wasn’t right. I’m hopeful that in the future, I can create a supportive environment for those who need it most.
