Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Krave
Hi Chris, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2011, Krave Rock started as an idea between two close friends—one a musician and the other a passionate music fan. The vision was to create a radio station that seamlessly integrated both independent and major label artists, giving listeners a true blend of the active hard rock and metal scene.
Over the years, we’ve hosted live broadcast events across the country, gaining recognition along the way. In 2018, we were nominated for Up And Coming Rock Radio Station and Best Independent at the Rock Radio Convention and Awards in Las Vegas. We’ve also been among the first stations to play many of today’s charting hard rock artists and have premiered hundreds of world-exclusive tracks. We are always on the hunt for fresh talent, constantly searching for the next big name in hard rock and metal to introduce to our listeners.
Today, Krave Rock has evolved into a full-fledged multimedia app built for the active hard rock and metal fan. Our platform features a 24/7 commercial-free stream, music videos, top-name podcasts, and more—with even bigger updates on the way.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road—more like a turbulent ride. The first few years were full of trial and error, figuring out what worked and what didn’t. One of the biggest challenges for me personally was defining Krave Rock’s identity. I knew what I wanted, but I wasn’t sure how it should look or take shape.
Another challenge was navigating the human element. When you’re building something from the heart, not everyone understands your motives or vision. That, combined with my own tendency to be my harshest critic, made things even tougher. I wanted everything to be perfect before I truly pushed Krave Rock into the market, which led to financial stresses early on.

The Krave Rock app is 100% free and as unapologetic as the music we play. We exist for one reason—to give hard rock and metal fans a platform built entirely around their passion. What sets us apart? What we’re most proud of is our organic growth and the direction we’re heading. We call ourselves “Today and Tomorrow’s Hard Rock Station” for a reason—together with fan input, we’re building the most unique app dedicated hard rock/metal in the world featuring a 24/7 commercial free stream, music videos, popular podcasts ranging from Eddie Trunk to Joe Rogan. And we’re just getting started.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about our city is the food. We’re incredibly lucky to have such a rich mix of cultures around us, and with that comes an amazing variety of cuisine. DFW has it all. Another great thing is the sheer number of entertainment options—having two major cities means there’s always something happening.
What I like least? The road rage. It feels like people have gotten a lot angrier behind the wheel, I wish we could all slow it down, take a breath, and bring some civility back to the freeways.
