Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Godbolt
Hi Courtney, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began a love for education and children when I was 13 years old at Community First Worship Center , where I became the children’s church teacher. I never would have dreamt that my job would later permanently marry two of my passions childcare and Faith. After 10 years of managing corporate daycares I was no longer able to accommodate my growing family, their busy schedules not to mention unable to afford care for two schoolage children and a newborn. With a giant leap of faith and push from my mother Apostle Lisa Tarpley Tucker I opened my childcare home. Here we are 10 years later operating as The Wynn Academy with 3 locations in the city to provide families with quality yet affordably childcare.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I was it had been a smooth road , but that’s not how walking in faith works. There were times when enrollment was soo low I contemplated quitting and just going to get a job , but there was a bigger plan and I had to stay the course.
Childcare is an ever evolving industry, and with schools now offering afterschool care, and all day pre-k , it eliminates a source of revenue for childcare operations like mine.
As a small business finding funding is difficult if not impossible and unfortunately many childcare centers have closed due to the lack of funding .
These are just a few challenges that I have faced on this road of entrepreneurship, but it was still worth it. Thankfully I did not have to endure these hardships alone and that made it more bearable to have the support of my wonderful Husband Marcus Godbolt and the team of ladies I work with. We can conquer anything!!!

The Wynn Academy is a premier provider in early childhood education. We are faith based , which means not only do children enrolled in our program meet and surpass development milestones but they developed a core foundation with biblical principles and knowledge of Christ. We care for children from 6 weeks -13 years old . Each campus is open Monday-Friday from 6 am-6:30pm. We offer smaller class sizes to maximize the availability for one on one interaction and successful small groups ensuring that no child is left behind.
What sets Wynn Academy apart from others is our heart. Our schools serve breakfast, lunch, snack and supper to make sure that our children have their basic needs met so that together we can conquer their educational and developmental needs. Each Wynn Academy exudes warmth and is staffed with living individuals who are in this field to make a difference in the lives of the children we touch.
The success of our country , our would lies in the hands of the early childhood educator, so there has to be love, acceptance, passion , commitment, faith and hope there to mold a better version of the world we have.

Happiness is seeing the joy on a child’s face when they’ve done something that was impossible, something that was out of their reach!!
Happiness is when parents have to fight with their children to get them to leave school for the day.
