Meet Megan Mendez of Denton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Mendez

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a teacher by trade. I went to college to become an educator and then got my master’s in education leadership to eventually pursue becoming a principal. I have always had an entrepreneur, heart, and spirit, as well as a heart for teaching others. Post-COVID was hard as an educator, and being a teacher didn’t allow the time and financial freedom that I knew I wanted and needed in life. After only four years in the classroom and how burnt out I was, I knew I needed to change something. Because I have a passion for entrepreneurship, I knew there was something out there for me to do. I just had to figure out what that was. I was a high school math teacher, so I’ve always been passionate about numbers, hence why I was crazy enough to pay off $53,000 of debt in 12 months. There were a lot of strategies that went behind doing that. I have a specific way I go about paying off debt; the way my brain operates is different than others, and I like to share that with the clients that I work with who also want to pay off debt.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Replacing my teaching salary took a lot of hard work. Sometimes, people make it seem like it’s this overnight success, and it’s not. Owning a business comes with a lot of challenges and growing and sustaining your income is one of them. It took me 3 years to finally replace what I was making in the classroom. Not to mention deciding when to invest in your business and yourself or deciding when not to. There’s no right or wrong path to take when you own a business, it’s all up to you and part of your story.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Back in 2021, as a teacher, I was severely burnt out and was looking for ways to supplement my income to pay off debt and leave the classroom. I learned of freelancing and used it to make extra money on the side for my family. Throughout that process, I paid off $53,000 worth of debt, and at the end of the school year in 2021, I was able to walk away from my teaching job and fully dive into the world of entrepreneurship. What started as virtual assisting, then turned into social media management for small businesses, quickly turned into helping others on their path to financial freedom as well. I knew this would work because I had done it myself; I am the walking proof. I am passionate about helping others achieve financial freedom to truly live the life they desire. So many people live in debt and struggle with finances, and I have a way that can help them make money from home and help them truly achieve their dream of financial freedom -whatever that looks like for them.
