Exploring Life & Business with Rodney Lyles of Feeding Kids by Faith Incorporation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodney Lyles

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into the nonprofit world began through my work with several youth programs over the years. I saw firsthand the struggles many children face, especially when it comes to hunger. But it wasn’t until I began to truly listen and understand the depth of the need in my community that I felt a call to make a lasting difference.

While I had been deeply involved in youth development, I realized that without addressing basic needs like access to nutritious food, all the other efforts to help these kids would fall short. It became clear that hunger was a barrier preventing many children from reaching their full potential.

Fueled by a deep sense of responsibility and a commitment to serve, I knew something needed to be done. That’s when Feeding Kids by Faith Inc. was born—an organization dedicated to abolishing youth hunger, by serving hot balanced meals and healthy snacks.

The path to establishing the organization was anything, but easy. It took hard work, dedication, and a relentless drive to succeed. But through tireless effort and the support of people who believed in the mission, we’ve been able to make a tangible impact on the lives of children and families in need.

As the Executive Director, my role is to ensure that every child has access to the food they need to thrive. Our work is rooted in faith and a belief that every child deserves a bright future, free from the weight of hunger.

Today, Feeding Kids by Faith Inc. continues to grow, serving more children each day. But the work is far from finished. Every day presents new challenges, but we remain dedicated to our mission, knowing that every meal we provide brings us one step closer to abolishing youth hunger for good.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
**Message from Rodney Lyles, Executive Director of Feeding Kids by Faith Inc.**

The journey of Feeding Kids by Faith Inc. has certainly not been a smooth or easy one. There have been moments of joy, hope, and progress, but equally, we’ve faced challenges that tested our faith and resolve. The road to abolishing youth hunger is not one paved with instant gratification, nor does it come without its struggles. But through it all, we’ve held onto one truth: God is using Feeding Kids by Faith Inc. as a vessel to feed His children.

In the beginning, like many other nonprofits, we had to build everything from the ground up. There were times when resources were scarce, and it seemed like the next step would be impossible. Funding was tight, and the weight of responsibility on our shoulders felt heavy. However, we kept pushing forward, knowing that God had a plan for this mission, and that “hard work, works.” Every setback became a lesson, every challenge a chance to strengthen our resolve.

One of the most significant hurdles we faced was establishing reliable partnerships and support systems. There were days when we wondered if we’d be able to sustain the programs we had started. Many nights were spent brainstorming, reaching out to potential donors, and organizing community events, all while making sure we could provide for the kids who needed it most. But in those moments of doubt, we always leaned into our faith. We trusted that God would provide the resources, the people, and the means to move forward—and He did, time and time again!

Another obstacle we confronted was the sheer complexity of the issue we were tackling. Youth hunger isn’t just about providing meals; it’s about creating systems that work within schools, neighborhoods, and families. It requires a network of volunteers, schools, businesses, and Churches, all working together. Building this network wasn’t easy. It took years of relationship-building, and we had to navigate various logistical and financial challenges.

Despite the hardships, we remain steadfast in our belief that this work is bigger than us—it’s about the children we serve. Every success, no matter how small, reaffirms our commitment to the mission. And through all the trials, one thing has remained constant: our trust in God’s plan. We’re simply the hands and feet of the work, He’s called us to do. His guidance and His provision has been miraculous.

So, has it been a smooth road? Absolutely not. But the struggles have only made us stronger and more committed to the mission of Feeding Kids by Faith Inc. Our journey continues, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of something so transformative. With God’s help, we will continue this mission until every child has access to the nourishment they need to thrive.

We’ve been impressed with Feeding Kids by Faith Incorporation, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Feeding Kids by Faith Inc., our mission is simple, but the journey has been anything but. It’s been a road full of challenges, but through it all, one truth stands firm: God has been at the center of it all. He’s used this organization as a vessel to nourish His children, and for that, we give Him all the Glory. Through every obstacle, every success, and every setback, we’re reminded that “hard work, works!” That’s a lesson I’ve carried with me for as long as I can remember, and it’s what sets us apart in this fight against youth hunger.

I’ve been an athlete my entire life, and as with any competition, success doesn’t come easy. You’ve got to outwork the competition. That mindset is what drives me and the team at Feeding Kids by Faith Inc. every single day. We don’t stop, we don’t quit, and we don’t make excuses. We keep pushing forward, even when the road gets tough, because we believe in the importance of this mission.

What I’m most proud of is how God has used me, a man who was once lost, to be part of a mission this monumental. I’m not someone who craves recognition; I’d rather remain unknown than be praised for the work we do here. My focus has always been on the kids—the children who need us the most. And I’m proud to say that, with God’s guidance, we’ve been able to feed thousands of children in need, providing nourishment and hope to those who may otherwise go without.

Feeding Kids by Faith Inc. is a group of passionate, dedicated individuals who believe in the power of hard work and faith. What sets us apart is the heart behind the mission. It’s about creating sustainable, lasting change in the lives of these children. Our goal is to feed them and give them the support, love, and care they need to be a successful human being.

What I want people to know about our organization is this: We are more than just a feeding program. We are a beacon of hope, a testament to the power of God’s Grace, and a reminder that, through faith and hard work, anything is possible. Feeding Kids by Faith Inc. exists to serve the children who need it most, and with your help, we will continue to do so for years to come.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
First and foremost, all glory and honor to God for placing me on this path and for empowering me to carry out this mission of abolishing youth hunger. I am humbled by the countless blessings and opportunities that have allowed us to feed thousands of children in need. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of the people who have shaped my life and inspired me every step of the way.

I have to start with my loving mother, Marian Henderson. Without her, I wouldn’t have developed the giving spirit that drives me today. She showed me, even when we had very little, the importance of giving to others—especially when it’s hard. It is from her that I learned the true meaning of selflessness and generosity. I Love you Ma!

My brother, Marcus Williams, also deserves my deepest gratitude. He taught me that being a great father is not about financial wealth, but about being present in your family’s life. It’s the time, love, and attention you give that truly makes a difference. Marcus set the standard for me, showing me the value of family, and how to provide in ways beyond just material goods.

Fred Henderson, another key figure in my life, instilled in me the belief that family should stick together no matter the trials. He’s teaching me the power of being there for one another—being present in the moments that matter most. This lesson has stuck with me and is at the heart of Feeding Kids by Faith. We are family, and our work is only possible because of the bond we share.

The incredible friends who have supported me through all the challenges—Sunny Phommavongsa, Charlie Matthews, and Louvis Johnson—are irreplaceable. Their friendship and endless support have been invaluable. We’ve been through thick and thin, and they have stood by me, no matter the hurdles. Proverbs 18:24 talks about how there are friends who are closer than brothers, and I can say without a doubt, these individuals are those friends.

Tony and Stone also made a profound impact on me. Tony taught me that hard work can defy all odds. He showed me that through education, grit, and perseverance, you can rise above your circumstances. His belief in me, even when I doubted myself, pushed me to stay on course. Stone taught me that embodying strong character and consistently striving to be a good person is always the right choice. Integrity, kindness, and respect for others should always guide our actions, because these values shape our personal legacy and positively influence those around us. In the end, true success is measured by the strength of our character and the goodness we bring to the world, rather than any external achievements.

Coach Noel Scarlett and Mr. Matthews are among the mentors I hold in the highest regard. They taught me the principles of being a man—how to carry myself with integrity and how to chase my dreams, no matter the challenges I may face along the way. Their mentorship was instrumental in my growth, both personally and professionally.

Lastly, Hero has shown me the transformative power of love. She taught me how to love others unconditionally, no matter their background or situation. Her compassion and dedication to serving others remind me every day why this mission is so important.

Now, in addition to the personal heroes I just named, I want to acknowledge some key partners and supporters of *Feeding Kids by Faith* who have played pivotal roles in our success:

1. Our Volunteers: The individuals who show up week after week to pack food, make deliveries, and lend their hands to our cause. Their dedication is beyond measure, and without them, we wouldn’t be able to reach so many children in need.

2. Local Churches and Community Groups: The faith-based organizations that have rallied around our mission. They have not only provided financial support but have also been instrumental in organizing food drives, raising awareness, and connecting us with families who need help the most.

3. Donors and Corporate Partners:The companies, organizations, and individuals who have generously contributed to our cause. Their donations, whether monetary or in-kind, help ensure we can continue feeding children in need every single day.

4. Our Team: The staff and volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes, coordinating logistics, managing food distribution, and ensuring our operations run smoothly. Their commitment and passion drive the success of our organization.

Each of these individuals, groups, and partners has played an essential role in making *Feeding Kids by Faith* a reality. But at the heart of it all, I will forever be grateful to God for placing me in a position to serve and for giving me the strength and wisdom to carry this mission forward.

The journey is far from over, and I know that with the continued support of these incredible individuals, we will reach even greater heights in our mission to end youth hunger. Together, we will continue to make a difference, one child at a time.
