Hi Teliya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello DFW I am Teliya Scott owner and operator of Pampered by Teliya Jean located in the Rockwall Harbor District.
With a warm welcome id like to tell you a bit about Journey.
The vision started when i found out i was pregnant with my first born. At the time i was working at a call center for AT&T in Las Vegas Nevada, in an abusive relationship then i realized that my life was worthy of much more.
My parents had retired in Rockwall, Tx and i decided to join them here. After visiting the nail salons every two weeks for the first year and not finding my regular nail girl i knew i had to take things into my own hands and change the game.
I am now a mother of two and have no choice but to pave the my for my girls.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Along the way there have been many struggles in building the business. Covid shut down had basically stalled me for the first year. Having to take client out of the house for 2 years after because i simply could not afford to get a suite and just had a second baby girl. There was no choice but to keep my career during the day and take clients at the salon during the night.

My advice for beginners would be to never give up and never compare yourself to what the next nail tech is doing because you do not have the same life or struggles as everyone else. When i was first starting out i wish someone would have told me that you catch more bees being sweet than salty. Always remember mean girls never win !
