Meet Gianella Montoya of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gianella Montoya

Hi Gianella, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started learning how to do acrylic nails as soon as I graduated high school. Nails has always been around me since I was little! I loved painting my own nails as a kid & even would paint my grandmas nails! When I learned how to do nails in 2018 there wasn’t much help in the nail industry. Everything I know now has been self taught! Fast forward to 2025 I am now an instructor at a nail supply store teaching beginner nail technicians this craft! I also am a nail technician aside from teaching the craft I taught myself!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely been a bumpy one! When I first started it was hard finding the correct products & knowing how to budget around good quality products! You would ask for help from other nail technicians & they wouldn’t want to help at all! I got bullied for the type of nails I did. Growing up I would have people call them quinceañera nails lol! I’m a huge fan of the curved nails! Now you see curved nails slowly making its come back again! Which is absolutely amazing!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a nail instructor at a nail supply store in Dallas Texas. I specialize in teaching beginner nail technicians that want to turn their passion into a profession! I would say the thing I’m known for most in Dallas would be my crazy creativity with nail art! The uniqueness in my work has inspired others to do whatever their heart desires despite the hateful comments we may get! I am most proud of how many people really look up to me & my craft! I try my hardest to help everyone in this industry because it’s already intimidating starting a new craft! I’m happy I’m able to inspire others across the world!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I am a leap year baby! Some consider being born on February 29th is pretty lucky but others believe it’s unlucky! I would say there’s no such thing as luck. As long as you put the hard work, dedication & discipline in it, you will receive everything you put your mind too!
