Conversations with Emily Stoll

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Stoll

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My business started off as a small art business, Art by Emily for You. Throughout years of working it’s upgraded and changed to become the home decor business I have today, Wild Beauty Interiors.
When I was 17 I had a traumatic experience that caused me to go to a couple different therapists. During that time I was taught that art could be used as a form of therapy. After a while the therapy sessions stopped, but I kept them going with myself.
I’ve always loved painting, doodling, making a mess, and being creative. I would lock myself in my room for hours and hours painting and it felt so great! Different colors for each day, for each emotion, and just being able to do something so relaxing and freeing gave me a chance to be able to sort out my thoughts and think.
One day I sat back and realized how many paintings I had, then I thought, “What if other people could love these too?”. That’s when I realized I wanted to start my business.
Back in August of 2020 I made an Instagram account and made my first post saying this was my new business and there’s more to come.
It started off as my own personal paintings and then some custom painting orders.
My first outdoor vender market was in March of 2021 and I had the BEST time! It was scary because my form or therapy was now laid out in this 10×10 space for everyone to see. Once I made my first sale, I couldn’t have been any happier!
It made me realize my thoughts and feelings were worth something to these people through my forms of art and it’s bringing them happiness to have it.
Years go by and my business had expanded to what it is today, Wild Beauty Interiors. Now I sell all different types of home decor, from pressed flower suncatchers, to pillows, to magnets, paintings, wall hangings, macrame plant hangers, embroidery, and more! Custom pieces have even made it back into the game for me, along with painting parties!
It has been a lot of work to learn all the ins and outs of having a business and keeping up with taxes, but it is well worth it at the end of the day and I see how happy my work makes the people who take it home.
My business slogan, or catchphrase, is “What Makes Your Home Happy” because I did what makes me happy in my home, and now I’m hoping it’ll make you just as happy in your home.
Art is something that everyone judges, even if you don’t mean to, subjective. Some days it’s hard to remember that, but whenever I see people loving the work I do, it makes it all worth it.
I love helping people make their house feel more like a home, or even help them find the perfect gift for someone they love.
I’d like to soon get a trailer to be able to take my business to the next level! After that, a storefront with all my work, a coffee corner, books, and other things to make people feel cozy and at home. I can’t wait to see what 2025 has to offer me and am super excited to continue putting my work in shops, doing pop-up vendor markets, custom orders, and painting parties.
It has been a long road with lots of ups and down’s but the adventure is the journey is what I’ve been told and I’m loving the journey, bumps and all!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think if you have your own business the road is ever super smooth… definitely going to hit some bumps along the way!
Some of the things I’ve struggled with while having my own business are self discipline, motivation, and energy.
Sometimes you’re going to have to opt out of the fun plan you want to go do because you need to stay home and get work done!
After events when you just want to stay in bed and sleep for the next couple days and you can’t, that’s definitely a struggle and where coffee and redbull come in handy!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am known most for my pressed flower suncatchers to the point where I have people come up to me, not even at events, and say “You’re the pressed flower lady!” Or even “Hey you’re that art girl!”.
I would have to say the thing I am most proud of is how far my business has come, to have regular customers, have people remember me as someone that helped them make their home a happier one.
Probably what sets me apart from others is that each of my pieces are all original, one of a kind, real flower and leaf artworks that will be preserved forever. It’s taking something that a lot of people sometimes overlook and making it a statement. Forever flowers is what I like to call them.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I don’t think I use many apps, books, or podcasts to do much of my work.
I use the Square POS system to help me keep track of sales and spending, instead of writing it in a notebook like I used to do when I first started out.
Also I use Cricut Design to help me bring the ideas in my head to life sometimes!
Mainly what I do is what I call an “Art Walk” and I’ll go to a local craft store and wander around until the creativity starts flowing and I get more ideas!
