Life & Work with Nnamdi Onwuzurike of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nnamdi Onwuzurike

Hi Nnamdi , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I always loved music growing up. I started DJing in college. I went to a couple of college parties, where the DJs weren’t impressing me with their timing, song selection, and transitions. So I began obtaining music on my laptop and only DJing on my laptop for several years. Later, I purchased my first DJ controller and continued perfecting my craft. Long story short, I worked hard to be able to obtain gigs on a weekly basis, travelled just to dj, and opened up concerts for major artist, like Glorilla and Trippie Redd.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The only common issue I may come across is working on gaining opportunities to DJ. I found myself always asking for gigs. Personally I took a break from doing that and just focus on my DJing, and as soon as I did. Opportunities came coming in. Patience will take you far.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a full time DJ. If I work, I’m DJing. I specialize in a specific genres of music. I am a storyteller when mixing. I’m most proud of myself taking the time to learn a craft I naturally like. I’M THE BEST DJ IN TEXAS. That’s what sets me a part. My song selection and transitioning is immaculate. When I happen to go to other events i’m not working, so people/friends will see me and be like “Why aren’t you DJing?” or ” You’re better than this DJ”. It empowers me to continue in my route and not to follow the “mainstream”.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Only changes I see is the music and how its played.
