Hi Kristal and Joseph , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello! We are Kristal and Joseph, both born and raised in Puerto Rico. In 2005, we each made the bold decision to move to Texas in pursuit of new opportunities. Several years later, our paths crossed, and we embarked on a shared journey of building a life together. Today, we are blessed with two wonderful children, aged 16 and 8, who bring immense joy and purpose to our lives. Our family is deeply involved in our family business, with our children actively participating and contributing their unique talents. This collaborative effort not only strengthens our family bonds but also fosters a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit in our children.
How it all started…
Our journey in the dog industry began in 2012 as professional dog breeders. We earned multiple certifications and prioritized breed standards and health by conducting thorough genetic and health screenings to prevent hereditary issues. Our first breed was the French Bulldog, back when they were not widely known. Over time, we expanded our program to include English Bulldogs, breeding both breeds for several years.
As these breeds grew in popularity, more people began purchasing them with the intent to breed, leading to an oversaturated market. This inspired us to explore other breeds, ultimately leading us to Doodles. Committed to quality and excellence, we quickly gained recognition, and clients from various states began reaching out to us. Some of our puppies even found their forever homes in Puerto Rico, enjoying the beach and tropical weather!
At one point, we had several adult Doodles of our own. As any Doodle owner knows, maintaining their coats requires extensive grooming, which can be costly and time-consuming. Scheduling multiple appointments on the same day was challenging, transportation was difficult, and despite our efforts, we were often dissatisfied with the grooming results.
One day, we realized that with our extensive experience in dog care—understanding behavior, coat types, and skin conditions—we were well-equipped to expand into grooming. Many of our clients, when picking up their puppies, would ask if we offered grooming services. Their trust in us gave us the motivation to pursue formal education in grooming.
After a decade in the dog breeding industry, we made the decision to shift our focus entirely to grooming. Once we acquired the necessary knowledge and skills, we set out to establish our brand. And that’s how Heavenly Doodles Spa was born!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We truly have no complaints—God has been incredibly good to us. Throughout this journey, we have seen His guidance and blessings, reassuring us that this business was part of His plan. He has continuously opened the right doors, allowing us to grow and thrive.
We have been fortunate to build a wonderful community of clients who have become like family. Their fur babies are more than just pets to us—we love and care for them as if they were our own. Each one has a unique personality, and we take the time to understand them individually, earning and maintaining their trust.
One challenge we faced, without going into too much detail—since our intention is never to speak negatively of anyone—was expanding our team to meet the high demand for our services. Due to our growing clientele, some clients have had to wait over a month for an appointment. To address this, we welcomed someone into our family business to help open a second route. Unfortunately, that venture did not go as planned, and we had to temporarily shut down that route.
However, we trust in God’s perfect timing. When the right committed groomers come along, our goal is to expand further by opening multiple routes to serve more cities in the DFW area. Stay tuned—exciting things are ahead!

We provide mobile grooming services for both dogs and cats, delivering convenience and high-quality care right to your doorstep. As a family-owned business, we take pride in our hands-on approach, with each of us playing a crucial role in our success.
Joseph is the face of our business and an expert groomer, while Kristal manages operations, including scheduling, client services, marketing, and photography. One of the unique touches our clients love is the beautiful seasonal portraits we provide after each appointment—completely free of charge! This thoughtful gesture is just one way we go above and beyond to create a special experience for both pets and their owners.
What truly sets us apart is the strong relationships we build with our clients. Kristal has cultivated an exceptional rapport with them—so much so that many feel like they know her, even if they’ve never met her in person. We believe that trust and connection are the foundation of a great business, and we prioritize personalized service in everything we do.
What We Specialize In
While we provide grooming services for all breeds, we specialize in Doodles, leveraging the extensive knowledge we gained as former breeders. Our professionalism, dedication, and commitment to excellence have earned us a strong reputation, and every day, we strive not just to meet but exceed our clients’ expectations.

Many pets come to us with fear-based aggression or anxiety due to previous traumatic grooming experiences. However, Joseph, our very own “dog whisperer,” has a special ability to build trust and create a calm, positive grooming experience. This compassionate approach is at the heart of our business—it’s not just about grooming; it’s about care, patience, and understanding.
Our Growth & Future Plans
For the past three years, we have been proudly serving our community, and the response has been incredible! Many of our clients have become lifelong customers, and their word-of-mouth recommendations have helped us grow beyond what we ever imagined. We are deeply grateful for their trust and support.
In addition to our full-service dog and cat grooming, we are expanding our business to include a Pet Hotel! This exciting new project is currently in development, and we can’t wait to share more details soon. Follow us on social media to stay updated on this new chapter of our journey!
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the greatest lessons we have learned is found in Matthew 6:33:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
When we put God first in everything we do, He aligns things in ways we never imagined possible. He makes the impossible possible—that’s just who He is!
Beyond that, we have learned the importance of consistency, perseverance, and hard work in achieving our goals. As the industry continues to evolve with new trends and innovations, we understand the need to adapt and grow. Staying ahead means continuously refining our skills, enhancing our creativity, and ensuring our work remains excellent and captivating to our clients.
