Conversations with Iesha Sanders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Iesha Sanders

Hi Iesha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always been the kind of person who can make friends with just about anyone. Connecting with people and making them feel comfortable comes naturally to me, so I thought—why not create a space where people can share their stories and experiences?

That’s how *If I Do This Right Podcast* was born! It started with a simple idea: to highlight everyday people who have overcome obstacles, achieved their goals, and pushed past their limits. My hope is to inspire others by showing that no matter what you’re going through, someone out there has faced something similar—and come out stronger.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
IIDTR is still in its growing phase. We have had some incredible guest ranging from author Elle Kayson to President of Jarvis University. However, it has been challenging to get the word out, but most of all, these conversations have been amazing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Iesha is a Research Engagement Specialist by profession and previously has worked in education for 3 years. Before that, she was in city government for 7 years. She is also an actress and a writer. She is planning on releasing her upcoming book titled “Layla’s Chance” this year. You can catch the first 2 chapters and prologue on Wattpad.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is equality for all people, but I have a special passion for uplifting Black and Brown women. Too often, their voices go unheard, their contributions overlooked, and their struggles dismissed. I believe in creating spaces where they feel seen, valued, and empowered—whether through storytelling, advocacy, or simply amplifying their experiences. My goal is to be part of the change that ensures everyone, regardless of background, has the same opportunities, respect, and representation they deserve.
