Meet Erica Arancibia of Luxe Skin Care in Addison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Arancibia.

Erica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve worked in the beauty industry for a long time in different positions. Receptionist, Makeup Artist, and Manager. I had an owner along the way who had great ways to teach and share with us how a business can run. That included team building. During that time in 2010, I was newly married and pregnant. 3 weeks before our daughter was born, we found out my husband had cancer that was too far gone. I was with newborn and a sick husband and felt I needed to be at home. During that time, my husband said “go for it, I’ll help!”, I quickly put into motion what I wanted my business to be like, remembering what I had learned along the way, I hurried to put together my business. Building my own website, getting supplies, getting my marketing started. Not having any of my previous clients, I was taking a chance, but failure was not anything I thought of. One year later, business was doing great, but my husband passed away. The next two years, I focused on improving and refining my business. Online business courses, attending business strategy groups and I spent many late nights thinking of a new business name, new branding, policies what was my ideal clientele, my target market, what I wanted my business to stand for. Worked with a few web designers who also helped with my branding. My clientele has shifted and grown for the better and every day I enjoy having a complete hand on approach to my business.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth road? Not a chance! One of the biggest mountains to climb was when my husband passed away. I closed my business for nearly a month. So, there was no income, and I did lose some clients, but built back up quickly. Never being in this situation or having much business knowledge, I again, couldn’t fail. Some of the other struggles were always getting my name out there for potential clients to know about me and what I offer. Always staying ahead of the curve by constantly staying up with the changes of social media, website needs, Client’s needs. I also struggle with having so many ideas or things I want to do, I want to do everything at once, so it’s been a great step for me to focus on one thing at a time before moving on to the next thing. The back end of my business needs is just and detrimental as keeping up with the current skin care trend and ingredients.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Luxe Skin Care is a solo operated skin care clinic. I provide result oriented skin care for anti-aging, acne and many other skin care needs as well as body sugaring and waxing. I have a large anti-aging and sugaring clientele, and Acne care is growing fast right now. I am proud to continue to further educating myself in my treatments and business operations to keep providing the best to my clients. What I think sets me apart from others, is what I hear from my clients. Always happy to be at their appointment, appreciate I continue my education with skills in treatments and behind the scenes, my customer service, the skin care education I pass on to them and that I’m compassionate. They’ve always been so supportive and proud of all I’ve done by myself, I take a lot of pride in appearance of my business and how I run it. I want to continue to reach higher every day.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was a handful…. I was always very independent and head strong. Was the one who always did things before reading instructions, always asking questions about everything. Jumping in and doing things right away. I also was quite the tom boy, I know, hard to see now. I was always outdoors playing in dirt with cars or riding my 4-wheeler. I would actually pretend to drive my 4-wheeler to work, and then back home after work. Inside I was a girlie girl, playing with my Barbies. I liked to cut their hair and try to dye it with food coloring. A neighbor and I used to make these leaf creations and then walk the neighborhood to sell them for gas money for my 4-wheeler so we could ride all day. I always needed to be engaged with something or I would be extremely bored.

I have never trusted someone with my skin as much as I trust Erica! She is the best!! Sure wish I would have found her when I was in high school with acne!
