Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerniqua Harris
Hi Jerniqua, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
God saved my life. I was born with various of illnesses which caused doctors to believe I would no longer be existent. From having the umbilical cord wrap around my neck to being told that I would not mentally succeed past the age of 2 years of age. (Despite of what the doctors stated), I did survive miraculously. When I fought the odds and became stronger and survived, I did have complications; which were, having seizures, not holding down my food, I had to be fed through tubes, when I started to try to walk, I had to wear braces on my legs. Mentally, throughout ALL of my schooling, I did have challenges to where I had to be put in special resource classes so that I could excel and move forward. Through those special programs, I was able to graduate High school and excel and go to college, which I did graduate
God is my hero. I was able to surpass my challenges!! I went on to become a certified yoga teacher and a college graduate. God definitely has a purpose for my life. In the 80’s, I was sent home with seizure medication. After leaving the hospital, Thankfully, I Never had another seizure again!! I am a walking talking miracle.
I do not share my story much, but I need to share my story to give God ALL the credit for my existence and healthy lifestyle! I count my blessings and I smile. Everyone does not get a second chance at life. I did. I believe I am here to worship God and share my testimony of how God is a miracle worker. I am grateful for life and All of my accomplishments. God is the truth.
God is my miracle worker, and God is my healer.
Blessings to All!!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. With the mild cerebral palsy, there came the obstacles of having mental (learning) setbacks plus anxiety and depression.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a self-taught artist and a self-taught yogi. I taught myself how to draw at a young age just by sitting in my room and just drawing what I seen on paper or still life. The more I developed my artistic side, the more my creative passion popped out! The art was very therapeutic for me as well!
My yoga practice begin in 2013. I seen other athletes on Instagram practicing yoga and I wanted to learn to stand on my head and have better flexibility, so I taught myself how to do yoga. I joined yoga challenges to strengthen my practice which led me to want to dive deeper into yoga and become a certified yoga teacher.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My family and supporters on Instagram and Facebook are my biggest supporters. I give so much thanks for all the love I receive. Even when I feel like my practice is a blah, I still get the love I know I deserve from others.
