Today we’d like to introduce you to Zachariah Rippey
Hi Zachariah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I spent three years pursuing a career in stand up comedy and everything changed in 2020 when the world shut down. I turned to God for wisdom and next thing I know I was face down in the bible giving my life to God. He led me to use the gifts he gave me to glorify him which led me to launching my faith-based podcast called “I Like Birds”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Never is. It’s a constant surrender that takes place when trying to do something for the Lord. You gotta pick up your cross and walk daily. The best part about that is giving him glory even through our weaknesses. I can’t do what I do without him and he’s blessed my obedience even in the trials and tribulations life has thrown my way.
Some specific struggles involved losing my best friend Armani in 2020 and working through grief in the same year I was discovering my faith. It was a push and pull between feeling pain and feeling a higher purpose to glorify God in my pain through every episode and piece of content I was creating at the time.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am known for creating life giving content that gives people hope, inspiration, and joy through the Good News of Jesus Christ. I am most proud of the success of my podcast. We have reached over 30 million people in 2024 and have continued to do it for the ONE every step of the way.
The authenticity and vulnerability of our show has seemed to be the thing that separates us. We put it all out there for Jesus to work with and he shows up to fix our brokenness every time.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I always had a ball in my hand, a snack on my mind, and an Eminem CD in my stereo. I was a class clown who was trying to figure out where I fit in. Most of these things still apply to this day.
