Today we’d like to introduce you to Tailon Edwards.
Hi Tailon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started chasing my God calling dream in Jan of 2017, it was all just a thought at first, the name Royalty rolled of my tongue with ease as I said that would be the name of my business. It felt like that’s the name God gave me, that’s what I looked myself as & everybody around me as, Royalty, you are what you wear.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Throughout the years I can say it’s been challenging especially doing it by yourself in such a big city, you want all the support you can get but it can get overwhelming when your hard work gets unnoticed at times. Those times are when God tests your faith as an individual & as an entrepreneur, is this something you truly want deep down inside or is you gone fold & miss out on your God calling dream?!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m known for making people feel like Royalty, having power & control of their own style and fashion, of course I built the brand up from scratch by myself, but my customers play a major role in me pressuring my dreams. My craftsmanship has gotten better throughout the years, I can sew, graphic design, color scheme & can manufacture my own clothing without a middle man. I can play any position that needs to be played in order to win. I’m most proud of how wise I’ve grew mentally as being an entrepreneur & understanding patience is the key. What sets me apart from the others? Is that once you buy from me you’re buying from yourself I’m one of you if you buy Royalty that’s what you are and you’ve understood your purpose in life that that’s how you would present your life from now on.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve took plenty of risks in this business, knowing I have 4 kids to look after & bills to pay, but it’s always about being strategic understanding that you could lose but you will only lose if that’s the mindset you set from the start I always think I can win in any situation I put myself in because my intentions are pure to take care of my family so every L I took wasn’t a loss it was lesson from God, to know that life is chess not checkers so of course a couple of my pieces will get took off the board but long as I don’t get check mate the game is still on.
