Daily Inspiration: Meet Barbie Gonzalez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbie Gonzalez.

Hi Barbie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Fashion has always been my language. From childhood, it’s been my way of expressing emotion, shifting energy in a room, and curating confidence. I loved the idea of ‘changing skins’ through clothing, how each outfit allowed me to embody a new version of myself while maintaining my true essence. That connection to personal style and self-image has stayed with me, evolving as I’ve grown and becoming my best friend during times when I struggled to connect with myself.

Since I can remember I’ve always been drawn to media, fashion, and creativity. Being such a visual individual and my love for storytelling have naturally led me to pursue these passions, and I’ve always known I wanted to work in these fields. Music, has been such an important of my life, it taught me to understand and manage emotions. One of my many long-term goals is to pursue tour management and music production.

I moved from Venezuela to Miami at the age of nine and spent the next 13 years there. Growing up in Miami was a blend of being sheltered in some ways, while also being exposed to the fast pace of life in other ways. Moving to Dallas has been a big cultural shift for me, offering new perspectives and exciting challenges that have helped me grow.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has been anything but conventional, but each twist and turn has shaped into everything I am today. From a young age, I struggled with self-doubt, and fashion became a way for me to communicate the parts of myself I couldn’t articulate. As a child, I was always curious about the meaning of everything little thing and everything single action (still am) I explored different religions and philosophies, seeking meaning and trying to understand the complexities of life which that fueled my desire to create and connect.

Moving from Venezuela to Miami, and then to Dallas, really flipped my view on American culture, forcing me to confront different customs and perspectives. While my academic journey didn’t always follow traditional routes, I realized that my path would be shaped by my passion for creativity and storytelling. I wanted to build something that not only expressed who I was but also helped others find their own voice and purpose.

Today, that passion is what drives me. Fashion, film, music, they all feed into my desire to curate, create, and inspire. As I continue to navigate my career, I’m focused on blending creativity with purpose, building something that reflects my personal evolution and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m working on a project that blends two materials that are close so close to my heart and have forever been a staple in my mom’s closet who has always been my biggest influence in fashion, denim and cashmere. It’s about creating pieces that are not only practical but luxurious, offering a perfect mix of comfort and style, I want to be able to run to the most important meeting of my life and also grab dinner with my best friend, the best of both worlds is what I want to provide to my audience. I’m still experimenting with some of the finer details, like the specific types of denim I’ll use, but the goal is to design a collection of high-quality, timeless pieces that can be worn by you, your daughter, and her daughter. It’s all about quality, craftsmanship, and feeling powerful in what you wear.

At the heart of everything I pursue, whether it’s fashion, storytelling, or community work. I have the desire to create something meaningful. One of my long-term goals is to create a safe, women-centered space. I envision a place that supports women holistically—emotionally, professionally, and personally. It’s something I’m building toward with intention, step by step. Through my brand, I hope to reflect the values of strength, softness, and sisterhood—and to support others in becoming the fullest versions of themselves.”

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Honestly? Confidence is everything. Once you really know yourself—what you love, what you’re good at, what you’re not settling for—it changes the game. I’ve learned that the older you get, the easier it is to accidentally end up in jobs or spaces that just aren’t for you, and suddenly you’re wondering why you feel so stuck. My last job taught me that no amount of money is worth losing your spark.

I think what sets me apart is that I move with intention. I trust what the universe has in store for me, I love gorgeous and particular things, I love curating beauty. I care about what I create and how it makes people feel. I’m not afraid to start over, to dream bigger, or to be the girl who’s figuring it out as she goes—but doing it with focus, trust, grace and a good outfit.
