Exploring Life & Business with Janae Crenshaw of Faces of Angels Training Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janae Crenshaw.

Hi Janae, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Janae Crenshaw and I am the proud owner of Faces of Angels Training Center where we teach occupational health courses such as Phlebotomy Technician, Medication Aide and soon to add CNA, PCT and EKG training. My journey began as a little girl, I always wanted to be a nurse and I knew that from a very young age. I started as a Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist and in 2009 I graduated as a LVN. I then later became a Registered Nurse in 2016. Faces of Angels Training Center began its journey in 2019 and although it took a lot of time, sleepless nights, perserverence, and a lot of no’s. My God seen fit for us to get our final Certificate of Approval from Texas Workforce Commission in November 2022 and we launched our first class in March of 2023; we’ve had a consistent enrollment every since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of my biggest challenges would have to be having to build this vision on my own. I mean my family has been very supportive but I am the only one in the medical field in my immediate family so it is only so much they could help me with. Besides that just being a female and trying to become an entrepreneur in today’s society has been difficult, this world does not cater to women and especially women of color.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I live in the Southern sector part of DFW and I remember when I went to school each and everytime I had to travel to the north side of DFW for school. I wanted to open a training center in my community and for my community. I didn’t think it was fair that if someone wanted to get a education in Dallas that they always had to travel to North Dallas for it. Faces of Angels Training Center specializes in Phlebotomy Technician and IV Therapy Skills Training. Our experienced professionals’ goal is to provide a safe, exceptional training atmosphere that is affordable and short-term while being tailored to meet each student’s needs. We will soon launch our CNA program this year and our nurses collectively have over 50 years of experience ready and waiting to train our future CNA students.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be visiting my Grandmother and Dad. My Grandmother had horses, hogs, chickens and a large garden. I remember having to help her feed all the farm animals, gather eggs, and vegetables out the garden to cook with. My dad was a Commentator for horse races and we would travel all over the world with him during our summers and live in the jockey’s quarters with the horses. I loved it!
