Conversations with Mozatronic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mozatronic

Hi Mozatronic, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I can remember sitting as a child listening to disney soundtracks at my grandparents home with these GIGANTIC headphones. At least for me as a tiny lil guy. When I entered 5th grade I was so excited to finally start learning an instrument. I chose clarinet. In 2 years I transitioned to bass clarinet and continue with that as my main instrument through college. I also was heavily involved with vocal groups. From boys choir, high school, college, vocal jazz, madrigals, etc. In college I worked on a double major for music education and music composition. I worked in radio as an on air personality and music director which put me in a unique space to interview many bands to include Incubus, Slipknot, System of a Down, Mushroomhead, Kittie, Lamb of God, 30 Seconds to Mars, Mudvayne, Fear Factory…just to name a few of the bigger names…but then life happens and it all stopped. Approx. 15 years ago I started getting back into music. Started with a local original rock band and now I have my band (As Trust Kills) and my solo work as Mozatronic.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing about being a creative artist is easy. If you go into it trying to make money is the wrong path. You need to enter into professional music with the expectation that you will have fun and grow as an artist. If you are going into it to make money you will be terribly disappointed. While that is a goal for all of us as artists…very few of us actually make a living to where we can stop our day jobs. You just have to accept it.

I think one of the hardest things about being an artist is the understanding that some people are just going to hate you no matter what…while some accept with glowing response. Not everybody is going to like you. You really need to hit a mark to get noticed…and you won’t know until you release and try…it is incredibly hard to get noticed with so much data being added to the work of art every single day.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Like everybody in the art world I have multiple influences. My main focus on Mozatronic is to combine EDM sounds with traditional orchestral sounds. Sometimes I feel it works well and an examples would be “Longing to Remember”. Strong strings embody this bouncing track. I also do full on instrumentals such as “The Promise” and “Mortality”.

I would say “The Promise” is the track I am most proud of. It is the track that opened up my catalogue with my skills and what is what ultimately lead me to my first full movie score for “The Talent Process: Retribution” which is in pre-distribution now for a world wide release this winter.

What sets me apart? It is my ability to imbue emotion. I don’t write with an end goal…I start with a simple idea and then keep expanding on it. I let the music write itself in most cases. I feel this is important. It is also why I have dozens of unfinished tracks as well. If it doesnt come to me quickly I put it aside for later.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am a pretty big fan of Prince, Halsey and George Michael. I listen to them often when I am not listening to rock. I also had to start completely over in 2023. I went global in feb of 2023 with my first official single. That same day my house burned down and I lost the entire studio. 10 years of instruments, equipment, masters…all gone. I had to rethink and rebuild. My studio now is 1000% better than my old one at half the cost to build because of what I had learned previously.
