Conversations with Sylvia Cespedes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sylvia Cespedes

Hi Sylvia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Cristina and I met about 10 years ago, because of our small children. We bumped into each other several times in activities. However, it was throughout the pandemic that we bonded over deep conversations. More and more we felt the need for spaces to sit and chat with other women. Exchange views about current and future needs of women. There are so many feelings and realities that can unite us. That is how the idea of LINK started. Mornings where you can disconnect from your routine and hear about what other women are doing and facing.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Creating LINK has been an exciting and meaningful journey for both of us. It’s given us the chance to use the skills we’re naturally good at while growing in areas that were outside our comfort zone. We’ve loved building this space, and the response from the women who attend our speaker mornings has been incredibly encouraging.

That said, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. Balancing LINK with the demands of everyday life—raising young children and managing our own personal commitments—has definitely been a challenge. There have been moments of self-doubt, times when we weren’t sure how to grow or how to reach more women. But those experiences are exactly why LINK exists: to offer tools, support, and conversations that help women feel more grounded and connected. By hearing each other’s journeys, we can let go of feelings of inadequacy and instead find strength in community.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We have formed a platform where on one hand attendees can come and hear and learn about diverse topics, and enhance their routines with different perspectives. And on the other hand the speakers, who don’t usually talk about there product, service or experience in a setting like LINK, get to expose themselves to a group of women and express their passion.

After all our events, there have been multiple business related outcomes. People have bought items from the speakers, guests have become patients, and even women have decided to turn their passion to a small business.

We want to be a place where women can come and the background doesn’t matter. They just need to be open and enjoy exploring diverse themes.

What were you like growing up?
Cristina grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico. She is a graphic designer and has always gravitated toward creative pursuits like ballet, art, and decorating.

I’m Sylvia, and I grew up in Costa Rica. I’m an industrial engineer with a strong interest in travel, religions, and reading.

We both grew up in Latin America, where families typically live close to one another. As a result, we were constantly surrounded by friends, cousins, aunts, and neighbors who exposed us to a wide range of skills.
Today, life feels more fast-paced and busy, making it harder to find those moments when two women are both available and ready to share and exchange knowledge.
