Conversations with Lattaniah Horton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lattaniah Horton

Hi Lattaniah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have worked in corporate America for over 10 years, And as a business professional I have obtained many skills, However my passion has always been helping others achieve their goals both personally and professionally, I have faced many barriers in my life that caused delays in me achieving my personal goals, I have faced challenges and unforeseen life changes that have unction-ed me to continue to except the things I cannot change and utilize the Wisdom to know the difference.
My tactic is helping others identify what those barriers may be in their lives. I enjoy encouraging and motivating other women. I am a firm believer in continuous mentorship, It is essential, We are not designed or created to walk alone, We can all hold each other accountable through humility and love, This is why I launched by coaching platform, (Elevation Coaching LLC), I have coached in corporate settings concerning team management and people building skills, I also coach personal clients discussing a variation of topics from relationships, business planning and more. I lead with my Faith, humility and servant-ship.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth, It has been rather rocky, I would describe my journey as an obstacle course. I have endured set backs, weariness, losses, and more However my commitment to my faith, and my daughter who so diligently observes everything I do and don’t do, My commitment to her and myself is to Never give up regardless of the rockiness,
My father had a picture hanging in his office and throughout my childhood I would always stare at this image, It was a photo of a stork that was trying to swallow a frog, It was in the storks mouth, However the frog had his hands around the storks neck chocking it rather aggressively causing the Stork to loose its breath, And in bold letters underneath it said “NEVER GIVE UP” The frog fought his way out in spite of what appeared to be the end.
I’ve had plenty of doors close in my face, Investments that were unprofitable, Personal grief and trauma, However even when I had to start completely over, My faith wouldn’t allow me to quit. Giving up is just not an option.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Life and Business Coach, I mentor clients from various walks of life, I have obtained many skill sets from corporate America concerning interview etiquette, Leadership training, business plans, proposals, offer letters, and more I enjoy bringing this aspect to my clients concerning any business obstacle they may face, including corporate employee’s trying to navigate entrepreneurship and what they may look like.
I mentor students under the organization “A Lady named pearl” Which is founded by Linda Pearl, This is a modeling and leadership school that gives young girls and adults the opportunity to have their own business, I have been able to teach and instruct the classes to help foster their skills in business planning, We discuss various leadership topics and students are assigned homework to complete. The students must obtain a passing grade in order to graduate last semester,
I mentor/coach the adult and youth students to foster self confidence, mental awareness and so much more.

I believe the main thing that sets me apart from others is humility, I believe in being a humble servant in all aspects of my life both personally and professionally, It brings me pleasure to serve, this creates a level of trust and honesty with everyone I work with, I am a very compassionate person that believes in being empathetic to others in spite of our differences.

I am most proud of my tenacity and perseverance, I have faced traumatic situations in my life that could have very well caused me to give up or give in, However through perseverance and long suffering I have been and will continue to move forward even if its only baby steps at first.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
My journey has taught me that my everyone is not meant to be my cheerleader, some are meant to Coach me, others will sit on the sidelines and watch without helping and some will doubt and betray me along the way, However as the metaphorically player on the field I have to focus on the end goal.
The most important lesson is to not allow distractions and other people’s actions to determine your outcome, Everyone plays a part in the game.
