Inspiring Conversations with Dee Walton of Walton Realty Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dee Walton.

Hi Dee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Real estate has always peaked my interest when I bought my first home in 2015. But at that time, I several years into my career as Human Resource Business Partner, climbing the corporate ladder. I decided to get my license when my company went through a merger and while my job was not at jeopardy something about this changed motivated me to start real estate school. Initially, I was just going to sell real estate part time but I quickly realized both my passion for it and the time commitment needed to provide the best possible service to my clients.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not! Entrepreneurship and having a sales job is not easy and I was definitely not prepared. As a college student, you are taught to get a good job and be a good employee. But when I was in school, there was not very many programs to teach you about entrepreneurship. I struggled with mindset, imposter syndrome, the systems I needed to operate as a CEO in my business and managing my daily schedule. Let’s just say the struggle was really lol. But I kept at it, sought out coaching and mentorship and surrounded myself around those who were doing it at a high level that I could learn from. The biggest thing I have learned is that entrepreneurship is definitely more about the journey than anything else.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Walton Realty Group?
As an Associate Broker of KW, I provide high level real estate services and advice to clients in the DFW area. My specialty is working with first time home sellers. What sets me apart from my peers is that I pride myself on being an expert in my field which is why I decided to get my broker license. Plus, I run a relationship based business. I can’t stress how important this was for me. Most real estate professionals or real estate agents are very transactional. They get through the transaction and then thats it, their client never hears from them again. I am the complete opposite, my clients are my clients for life regardless if they every buy or sell a home again. I help my client maintain their homes well beyond the sale, providing real estate insights, home maintenance resources and a tool that allows them to analyze their home and as a piece of their overall financial portfolio. I believe real estate is your home but it is also a tool to help you build wealth. I am also your realtor for life and not just for the transaction.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
As a kid, I remember going to the flea markets with my mom who had a catering business and had a food truck before food trucks became a thing. I remember watching her trying to sell her food to clients and trying to be her own boss and I didn’t realize it until I was an adult. Now I realize the impression she had on me and how seeing her attempt to start and have her own business was inspiring. She didn’t not have the resources she needed at the time to really succeed but going to those markets and events with her were always fun and memorable. As kids, we got to run around, play and eat.
