Today we’d like to introduce you to Vernesha Ruffin.
Hi Vernesha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In December 2019,
I moved from Peoria, Il to Dallas, Tx. I didn’t have a job or a plan. That was the lowest point of my life and I am very grateful for the learning experience. While on my job hunt, I decided to start my podcast, LoveVeeTalks, in March of 2020. Right after the start of the pandemic, which was a tumultuous time for many of us. What really prompted this spark of a new venture was my love for affirmations, encouraging words, and bringing calmness to anyone’s life. I started recording I am affirmations and meditations from my phone. The responses that I received from my listeners was overwhelming! I received a plethora of emails from supporters showing gratitude and then asking for advice on their own personal lives. From then on, LoveVeeTalks, has expanded into interviewing small business owners, influencers, and professionals in the DFW area. The support grew into me hosting networking events and expanding into the world of video podcasting so my listeners can put a face to the voice. I didn’t know what direction my podcast was going into, but I’m so glad I took that leap of faith. I started recording because the encouraging words I felt like was helping me more than my supporters because it helped me crawl my way out of depression. LoveVeeTalks currently has over 15,000 listeners on Spotify, hosted 4 events, and over 40,000 views on YouTube. My vision is that my platform touches as many lives as possible by encouraging self improvement, hosting events for professionals, giving back to the community, and expanded across the country.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I struggled with being consistent with my podcast in the beginning because I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to go in. I also wasn’t very consistent because I was dealing with depression which at the time, started to manifest into physical symptoms that felt crippling to my mental state. Moving away from the people that I love to starting over, was very mentally challenging and exhausting. I truly had to pray my way out of my darkest moments.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been podcasting for over 5 years now. I also host networking events with discussion panels. Each event has a separate theme such as women entrepreneurs, domestic violence advocates, singers, dancers etc. I love celebrating different career fields and providing a platform that exposes my supporters to different professionals. I am most proud of publishing my first E-Book on Amazon, “You Ready To Boss Up?” In May of 2020. I’m also most proud of being able to achieve over 40,000 viewers on LoveVeeTalks YouTube channel in less than 90 days. I decided to get serious about growing my YouTube Channel in the beginning of 2025. I’ve been able to collaborate with different skincare brands and expand into being a content creator. I think what sets me apart from others is my resilience. I have learned to walk by faith and not by sight. I take away At least one thing to learn from any and every situation. Nothing is ever a loss to me, but just another page in my story.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love the most about my experience in Dallas so far is how most of the people I have met here aren’t Dallas natives. I have met so many people and gone to so many unique events that have provided me with a different experience each time I attend. I love the plethora of cultures and the limitless opportunities here. Dallas is truly a Gem!
I can’t stand the traffic! It freaks me out. When I first moved here, I cried so hard one day when I was in traffic for over an hour. I pulled over and cried because I just wanted to go home and the drive felt endless. Now that I’m pretty familiar with the city, it’s not as bad anymore.
