

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandy Russell.
Hi Sandy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been married to my incredible husband Danny for just 17 months, we have 4 adult
children + 4 of their spouses, and 8 Grandblessings! We enjoy spending time with family,
traveling, concerts, and sometimes just a quiet evening on the couch which is rare!
I first began my experience with events in the late 90’s when I worked as the Executive
Assistant to the Senior Pastor at a local church. As the EA, I managed weddings,
funerals, fundraisers, conferences, and even theatrical productions. After leaving that
role I worked many years as an Executive Assistant which always includes lots of
hospitality, logistics, scheduling, and people management. During the years as an EA, I
continued to orchestrate events and decorations for friends and family; for free! In 2019 a
dear friend encouraged me to seek out my dream career as an event planner and open
my own business. So I did! It was a slow start due to the pandemic hitting shortly after I
opened. But within 3 years I was able to leave the EA job for good and just work for
myself full time. So, my inspiration for starting the business was speaking my dream out
loud and then having others encourage me to go for it!!
It definitely has not been easy. Each year our business grows more and more. We began in 2020 with just 9 events and I had a ear friend who was my volunteer assistant. In 2024 we completed right at 50 events and I now have 6 paid assistants and one volunteer husband 🙂
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I started the business as a single woman making a very nominal income. Gaining clients and inventory was a challenge. However, the Lord always provides exactly what we need. I also started the business in the midst of a pandemic which created a huge damper on the growth of the business in 2020.
The biggest challenge I have had to overcome (and still work on it daily) is self confidence.
Believing that my work is good enough for clients to desire working with us for their special day.
Our satisfied clients bring me great joy in knowing that the answer to my doubt is YES IT IS!
We’ve been impressed with Agape Events LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We offer event planning, decorating and coordinating for all types of events. Whether it is
a small dinner party, baby shower, birthday party, or large wedding we can help!
What makes us unique is that we are a faith based company and we strive to provide
exceptional service while showing the love of Jesus.
“Agape” is best known as its biblical meaning for the highest form of love. Selfless,
sacrificial and unconditional love; persists no matter the circumstance. However, we also
apply it to our business. We always strive to devote total commitment to achieving the
highest and best level of service and quality that we have the skills to achieve.
Our ideal client is anyone who has an appreciation for the hard work and skills that go into
creating a successful event. Most everyone at some point has a need for our service. Whether
they are getting married, having a memorial service for a loved one, hosting a birthday party, or
having a corporate event.
We always pray that our clients feel that we have poured our hearts into our work and given
everything we have to make their event a success. No event is too small. We give the same
effort regardless of size of the budget or guest just.

We work with all budgets. Even if you have a very small budget, we will work together to figure out what we can provide for you. If they don’t have a budget for the largest elaborate set up, we will make sure that they have quality on any scale.
