Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharlane (Shar The Starr) Jones.
Hi Sharlane (Shar The Starr) , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started singing in church when I was 5 years old in a children’s choir! In high school I did my first talent show. I met my friends sophomore year, who then took me to a recording studio and show cases outside of school. Through out the years of high school I continued to go to the studio perfecting my craft. Once I graduated from high school more opportunities came in which of course I took them. I won competitions for major radio stations like z88.1 and z107.9 and this made me more confident in myself. I started shooting music videos and even got one of my music videos on World Star HipHop. I had my first child right after graduation and I went viral on facebook singing to him in the hospital right before he passed away. I think that me going through so much pain pushed me and gave a fire that has kept me going since then. Now that I have 2 managers things have been so much better for me and the rest is history.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So to answer this question my name is Sharlane and the definition of my name is “beautiful rough road”. My life has literally been that “lol”. It’s been beautiful but rough and to explain a little in detail I’ve lost some of the most important people to me like my son Ezekiel, my father Kurt, and my baby father Damarious. Going through these losses has given me this crazy fire inside and I use that to write music. Its my reason to never give up on my dreams because life is so short I don’t want to regret anything. There is so much more that I’ve been through from abusive relationships to normal life struggles but here I am living my dreams so I guess it’s worth it!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m so proud to say I have a franchise for commercial cleaning! I started cleaning with my father when I was 14, and when he passed away this past June in 2024, I continued with his legacy finishing what he couldn’t by starting my franchise. I am also a content creator & live streamer. If I’m not doing these things I’m being a mother to my son Israel (which never stops lol) or I’m on stage singing my heart out and traveling the world. What sets me apart from other is my drive and determination! No matter what I go through I remain solid and focused. I’m always true to myself.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future is buying a house and continuing this music journey by traveling all over the United States and letting the world hear this voice that God blessed me with. I eventually would love to open a fashion boutique/Spa.
