Yesel Gutierrez, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Mi Cielito Lindo ECC was founded by myself, Yesel Gutierrez and my sister Cristhal Gutierrez. We are both former bilingual educators and have taught at various schools and districts. Our passion for teaching Spanish led us on this new journey of opening up our own preschool. We value authentic learning, play based learning and project based learning and wanted to create a way to combine these elements into our own curriculum. We saw students thrive when they were fully immersed in a language but could not find a public school campus that offered just that. Here, at Mi Cielito Lindo, we provide families and students with a full Spanish immersion experience where children have the opportunity to be children and learn through hands on play based activities.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Just as with anything new, there are obstacles you may face. For us, our main obstacle was learning how to run a business. We both were education majors and lacked knowledge about the business world. In addition, we had to familiarize ourselves with state licensing standards in order to even qualify for our preschool license. We took about half a year to complete a business course as well as study the minimum standards and this helped us overcome these challenges. Of course, new challenges arise from time to time, but the important thing is to keep a positive and growth mindset and continue moving forward.

We are a team of recognized certified bilingual educators in Texas with a combined experience of 20 years. At Mi Cielito Lindo ECC, our Spanish Immersion program is designed to provide students with high quality instruction through the use of project based learning that fosters cultural appreciation and empowers students to become confident lifelong learners. Our licensed in-home preschool is located in Carrollton, Texas and offers full time care for ages 18 months to 5 years old. In addition, we offer Private In Home Lessons and Tutoring services in the Dallas Metroplex area.
