Today we’d like to introduce you to James Harris.
James, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a hobbyist photographer with seven years of photography experience. I spent the first five years behind the camera interacting with people and places on the less beaten path in some four dozen countries around the globe. All my early work was with natural light and subjects with little experience in front of the camera. I believe that experience taught me to relate to, study and work around my subjects. Today, most of my time is spent capturing portraits and developing modeling portfolios in studio or around Dallas-Fort Worth.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been an adventure and an exciting journey. Learning constantly and working with and around amazing subjects is very inspiring.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the GRIT Images Co story. Tell us more about the business.
Seems I’m mostly known as the black and white guy. While I work in color as well, I’ve always had an interest in black and white mediums and I think, black and white photography works well with my perspective and focus on texture and contrast.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I believe we make our own luck. In both life and business, we create for ourselves a desired outcome through a series of choices. Sometimes that goes my way but when it goes the other, I do my best to learn from those decisions to take advantage of future opportunities.
