Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Robertson.
Hi Hannah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up immersed in the performing and visual arts, from dance and theater to photography and painting. Storytelling through creative expression has always been a passion of mine. I began studying journalism at the University of Texas, but after taking a documentary course, I discovered an interest in visual storytelling and transferred to the Radio-Television-Film program. There, I developed a strong foundation in filmmaking and honed my skills behind the camera. I eventually gravitated toward sports videography because of the sense of community it fosters and the human emotion it captures.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I still have a long way to go in my career, and I’m grateful that I haven’t had to face major tragedies. My biggest challenge has been navigating my own indecisiveness. I’ve often found myself shifting between goals and aspirations, which made it difficult to settle on a clear direction. It took time and experience to find a path that I wanted to go down.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Most of my background is in photography, with a strong focus on portrait work. I was introduced to videography in college through narrative projects and documentaries, where I served as director of photography on several student films that I’m proud of. After graduating, I shifted my focus to sports videography, while also taking on smaller video projects to continue building my portfolio. I may not be widely known yet, but my goal is to become recognized as a compelling storyteller and skilled videographer.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was quiet around strangers but outgoing with those who knew me well. I was an anxious kid, always looking for ways to stay busy and creative. I found comfort and inspiration in movies and TV, and I absolutely loved the world of theater.
