Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Rojas.
Jorge, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story begins in high school when I was asked to do my schools Winter ball. It was a success and started doing dances over all Dallas ISD such as Molina Hs, Adamson Hs, Garza, Sunset, Twonview, etc. The more dances I would do the more followers and connections I would gain. During my high school years I also started performing at clubs, bars and arenas while being under 18! Which was crazy to me because I wasn’t even legal to be at bars. I also started doing fifteens and wedding which the pay was much better than any school dance and clubs. Time passed and my name was getting bigger in the events industry. This opened so many opportunities for me which included opening up my own convenience store and hosting concert events of 2,000 people. I can truly say I have worked and met almost everyone from my Oak Cliff neighborhood hood and Dallas. Now I am one of the most picked DJs to perform at expensive weddings which I have seen clients pay over 100k for their wedding. It’s a blessing for clients to trust me so much for they’re special day which in many cases it’s a one in a lifetime event for them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There’s always struggles in businesses. In my case I’ve been through parties losing power half way, my equipment being damaged, rained pouring on us, using all our savings and starting from scratch, fights, and many more which I can explain.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My organization is really known in OakCliff, I’m pretty sure if you ask if you know “DJSTAR” there is a high chance they will. It’s crazy that I have already done it for 11 years. Ive seen clients have their fifteen, to their wedding and finally their baby shower. What sets me apart from others is my attitude. I am always down to do anything to grow our name. What does success mean to you?
I define success by watching my clients be happy on their day. It’s like drinking a whole case of red bull which powers me for more years coming. A lot of DJs and individuals have closed the door on me because of my age and now that I’m older I see why they were mad. We are one of the most booked DJs in Dallas, having events every Saturday. Sometimes Thursday- Sunday. That’s my success for me
