Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Meyer.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Andrea. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I found my sweet tooth at a young age and cannot remember a time when dessert wasn’t my favorite part of the day. I took French all through school and traveled to Paris for the first time on my honeymoon. Having spent months in Paris since then, immersing myself in the culture and indulging in all things pastry, I knew there was something more creative in my future. I chose to leave my my successful yet unfulfilling corporate career as a project manager behind, embraced pastry as my passion at the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts and never looked back. I credit my years with Bouchon Bakery & Bouchon Bistro in Yountville, California for developing and refining my skills and further instilling in me a strong sense of integrity and respect for the food, my team and most of all my customers.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course not! It is a challenge each and every day and has been since the very start. This isn’t a career you can do if you don’t truly have a passion for the work, the food, for people and for pushing yourself to be better each day. Any small business owner can tell you there are more challenges than hours in the day! From staffing to finding time to be creative, there’s always a new challenge to overcome.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Bisous Bisous Pâtisserie – what should we know?
In French, Bisous Bisous (/bi-zu/) means “Kiss, Kiss” or “Lots of Love”. When greeting friends and loved ones, the French kiss each cheek, one kiss each side. This “hello!” and “until we meet again” is exactly the type of atmosphere we strive to create at our shop. We specialize in French-style pastries and are best known for our signature French macarons, noted as the best in Dallas many times over! We provide delicious and beautifully executed pastries, hand crafted with care of the finest ingredients. We offer a large variety of traditional and innovative pastries in an authentic French atmosphere. We consistently share our passion for pastry with our customers.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
That’s a really, really long list! First and foremost, I would not be even close to where I am today without my husband, Matt. Absolutely, none of this is possible without his support, creativity, ingenuity and enthusiasm. From my parents to my professors, pastry chefs to my team, there is simply too many people to list.
