I grew up in the heart of South Central Los Angeles, where survival meant learning the rules of the street before you learned your ABCs. My life was shaped by the chaos around me—gangs, violence, and a system that seemed determined to keep me down. I made choices I’m not proud of, choices that led me to prison. But even behind those cold, concrete walls, I knew my story wasn’t over.
When I got out, I realized I had two options: go back to what I knew, or fight for something better. With nothing but a duffel bag and a dream, I headed to Texas, chasing the hope of a fresh start.
Texas was different. The air felt lighter, and the possibilities seemed endless. But starting over wasn’t easy. I hustled odd jobs, slept on couches, and reminded myself every day that I was more than my past.
Everything changed when I met Sammie Martinez, the CEO of Fishbowl Radio Network. Sammie saw something in me—a spark, a voice that needed to be heard. She gave me the chance to create my own talk radio show, The Throne. For the first time, I had a platform to tell my story, to inspire others who felt trapped by their circumstances.
The Throne became more than a show; it became a movement. People tuned in from all walks of life, drawn by real talk, raw truth, and the belief that anyone can rise above their past.
With the momentum from the show, I launched Majestic Media Solutions, LLC and King Charles Productions. Both companies are dedicated to helping businesses shine—offering comprehensive media marketing solutions that elevate brands and tell authentic stories. We handle everything from digital campaigns to video production, helping others find their voice just like I found mine.
Today, I stand as King Charles—not just a survivor, but a leader, a creator, and a testament to the power of second chances. My journey from the streets of South Central to the studios of Texas proves that no matter where you start, you can always claim your throne.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Texas was a different world. The air felt lighter, the sky wider, and the possibilities endless. But starting over was harder than I imagined. I hustled odd jobs—washing dishes, cleaning offices, loading trucks—anything to keep moving forward. Some nights, I slept on friends’ couches, other nights in my car. Every day, I reminded myself: I am more than my past.
There were moments when doubt crept in. When the money ran out, or when another door slammed shut in my face, I wondered if I’d ever escape the shadow of my mistakes. But I kept pushing, fueled by the belief that my story could mean something.
