Hi Jeremy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Jeremy Allen
the founder of Allen Patrick Nutrition | Leader of God’s Army | Author of From Handcuffs to Haircuts
After nearly 30 years behind bars, I’ll be coming home on a mission. Some get release with heavy hearts, bitter stories, or broken hope. But the Major, is coming home with something else: a mission.
I AM a mentor, wellness entrepreneur, public speaker, Life Coach, author, husband and founder of God’s Army, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering adolescent youth and formerly incarcerated men and women through faith, structure, and community. I’m also the creator of Allen Patrick Nutrition, a wellness brand born from a radical observation I observed during my decades of incarceration —one that could reshape how we think about rehabilitation, violence, and gut health.
A Story of Second Chances
My story doesn’t start with a book deal or a nonprofit launch. It starts in a prison cell. Over nearly three decades, I studied people—their minds, behaviors, and bodies. I mentored both bloods and crips, looked for meaning, and refused to let the system define who I would become if I was given that chance at freedom,
“When you’re locked up that long, you see everything,” Allen says. “Patterns. Pain. What makes men snap. What helps them change. And I noticed something most people would never think to consider.”
From Constipation to Confrontation
“When the gut is locked up, so is the mind.”
In prison, I began to see a disturbing correlation: constipation and conflict.
“Tensions would spike, fights would break out—and more often than not, -.a men involved were backed up, couldn’t sleep, and were physically uncomfortable. At first I thought it was coincidence. But the more I watched, the more I realized: gut health affects mental health. And poor nutrition feeds violence.” Think about it. No proper nutrition or sunlight all have an affect on our guts.
This is when the seed for Allen Patrick Nutrition was planted. My brand promotes clean, accessible gut health—not just to help people feel better, but to help them live better and think more clearly.

God’s Army: Building a New Generation
Alongside my wellness work, I lead God’s Army, a nonprofit rooted in discipline, spiritual growth, and leadership training for youth—especially those who are vulnerable to the streets or systemic failure.
I start with youth as young as five years old to train them up.
Clad in camouflage uniforms and branded with God’s Army, the group symbolizes structure, strength, and second chances. And the movement is growing.
In recognition of my work, the City of DeSoto, Texas issued a Proclamation honoring my efforts in the Second Chance community. I knew I had been called by God when the guys I mentored in prison actually follow my instructions in the free world to keep my organization alive.

The Book: From Handcuffs to Haircuts
In my upcoming book, From Handcuffs to Haircuts, I weave short stories of survival with insights on leadership, faith, and transformation. It’s part memoir, part movement—a manual for redemption through self-respect, discipline, and health.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I had a problem with changing from the inside out, Sharing my story inspire others for greatness by equipping them with the tools to become new internally and externally. I did not know this was possible until my comrades who got out before me and follow all my instructions to prepare for the movement. I had that kind of positive impact on people and it made me feel good.

Just as new wine requires a new container, a renewed life—peace, discipline, leadership, redemption—requires a renewed vessel: a healthier body, a clearer mind, and a willing spirit.

What matters most to you? Why?
Creating obedient soldiers starting as young as five years old is what matters to me.
Our youth. The ones in elementary school, If I can get them young they will never depart from them values.

You’ve seen it—sweet little boys and girls, slim arms and legs, but bloated bellies. That’s not just baby fat.
That’s inflammation. That’s constipation. That’s crisis.
Our children are growing up thinking Takis are fruit, and Hot Cheetos are lunch.
We wonder why they can’t focus in school…
Why their moods swing…
Why they explode in anger or retreat in depression…
But we forget the gut is the second brain.
If they’re backed up inside, they’re blocked up everywhere else, too.
